What Makes YOU DO IT, Each Day?

Seriously, WHAT motivates you to keep going? Just curious, so I will start this post off.

About four years ago, I was diagnosed with something called panuveitis. I actually went blind for about 8 months at one point. Then I had surgery.

IT SUCKS. Anyway, I take enough medication to sink a battleship. (So I can see, and some is to counter the other. . .) I live with migraine headaches. . . I can't take anything for them, yet I sit and work at my computer for most of the day. . .

SO, WHAT makes me do it?

In my case, it's my son. I want him to have EVERYTHING. I want to provide for him BEFORE something worse happens. . .

I also want to make my mother very proud, because when I was younger.. WHEW.. I was hell come to Earth. PLUS, I have a total passion for marketing and doing sales. . . I LOVE IT. I call it "MindTwist"

I am fortunate, because I got into sales and marketing 20 years ago, and have always stayed involved in one form or another. . . So for me to leave my other career behind. . . (Had No Choice... My Meds Create Bone Issues) Was not overly hard. I did not require retraining, as I was already doing my 2nd passion. . .

In fact, during my other career, I used my sales and marketing A LOT. . . Go Figure. . .

So what makes you do it? Children? Family? Pride? Do Tell and, SHARE your story of triumph!

Regards
Andrew

Interesting post. Posts like this make me feel rather boring by comparison. I'm 31 and I want to retire in 9 years and strictly invest. Its as easy as that. I could say that that desire was driven by my upbringing; by seeing my grandfather and father work for years, to have nothing long term; nothing solid. Nothing saved, nothing invested.

I do it because I want things to be easy; I want to have options; and I want to be the best. I don't want my son to even get into the rat race. I don't want him to feel like society has blocked him into a corner with no options but to toil for someone else, forever and pay taxes on what little he has left. I want him to know there is another way; a beautiful way, where you can be master of your own domain and decide your own fate.

EXACTLY. MASTER, being the keyword. That is a great reply. Thanks! Fascinating! You just GO AND TAKE IT NOW. There is all this money out there, and when you want some, YOU JUST GO GET IT.

Cool topic. There are two things that keep me gunning in this crazy IM game:

    1) The thrill of the HUNT

It's not the money that drives me - after all, money's just the by-product. What drives me are the challenges that come at every turn: coming up with that killer strategy, approach, copy, etc. that will have a campaign kick major butt.

Recently I took on being chief strategist and copywriter for a HUGE product launch. It was absolutely exhilarating to be THE person determining the course of an entire launch. What can I say... I love the hunt.

    2) Continuously making BIG promises

The other thing that keeps me plowing forward is putting myself out there and making BIG promises. In other words playing big and not small.

Promises to my family, promises to other marketers, promises to students, the list goes on and on. Without putting myself majorly on the line for results I'd sit around watching Comedy Central all day.

By understanding myself and making sure the above two elements are always pulling me forward, I've generated over $5 million in revenue online since 2004.

To everyone I say know thyself and figure out what will make you step up and produce what you're really capable of. Because that's when the joy comes.

The thrill of the hunt! WOW! That is TOO freakin cool Ken. It is a total hunt, for customers. . . Awesome. . . Do you get a rush?

      Too cool. . .

Thanks for that... I am becoming more and more fascinated by the minute. So many different motives. . .

        My Why...

To achieve time freedom, so I can do what I want when I want.

When my father passed away at the tender age of 49 I made a vow that I would live every day as if it was my last. I knew that I could not achieve the goals I wanted to achieve by working a job.

It was that day that I set a goal to quit my full-time job and run my business. My goal was to quit my job on October 19 2008. I actually missed that goal. I quit my job October 29, 2008.

I will never go back to working a job again. I love what I do and I do what I love.

It is unbelievable being able to wake up with my son in my face telling me breakfast is ready. Never needing to worry about being late again. Being able to go to all the doctors appointments, all of the fun things. Never missing out again because I have a job to go to.

My father had so many things that he wanted to do. But, unfortunately his job took most of his time. Before he died my father and I were talking and he talked about all of the things that he wanted to accomplish. Things that he still had not done.

I do not want to make that same mistake. That is why I do what I do. Time is our most valuable asset. Never waste it!

For me it's a big rush, I remember when I made my first few sales, my heart was pounding, really fast and I actually felt fear, I don't why, but over the last year or so I no longer feel the fear just the rush and the excitement.

Ultimately, I believe we are in this for the same basic reason to provide a better more, finical stable lifestyle for us and are families...Now money isn't everything in the world but if you can prosper from your own blood sweat and tears then why not...enjoy life.

Today, around 2000 people will be murdered, tens of thousands will be raped, 25000 will starve to death and tens of thousands will die from curable diseases.

It's not that hard to find something to keep going.
