Which domain name would you choose?

I'm no lawyer, but they all appear to contain a registered trademark belonging to a company with a very widespread reputation for protecting its trademarks particularly aggressively?

Among the things that can and regularly do happen, when the trademark owner discovers such breaches of trademark in a domain-name, are:-

• They can tell you take it down
• They can take the domain from you
• They can take from you any money you've ever made through the site
• They can sue you for additional damages for flagrantly breaching their legal rights

Don't imagine that because "you're helping them to make sales" (as is so often the case, in these circumstances) they'll decide to be lenient. That isn't how it works.

The point is that owning a trademark effectively confers obligations as well as rights on the holder: when it comes to trademark renewal time, if it can be shown that they've knowingly failed to protect their rights with regard to the trademark, that can be held against them.

Some companies, for this reason, have the policy of pursuing all breaches of the trademark routinely and without reference to the motives/purposes/circumstances/location of the defendant.

"Back to the drawing-board", perhaps?

Others will doubtless be along very soon to advise you which of those domain-names they'd register, but bear in mind that they may not still be there to support you on the day you hear from Sony's legal department, as others have done in these circumstances.

I personally like "xperiaphonecentral" (assuming the "pone" was a typo) because it has a nice ring to it and is brandable. I don't like the word "the" in domains, as it seems unprofessional, as does adding an "s". The word "site" sounds unprofessional as well since it should be assumed that a domain name is leading to a website.

xperiaphoneworld and xperiaphonedepot would be my 2nd choices. I guess most of this comes down to personal preference. As for SEO and ranking, I don't believe using the plural version of the word has any negative effect, although I'm not an expert.

I like xperiaphonesite, the shorter the better. Plus, I think that I could remember that one a bit easier.

Alexa hit the nail on the head. I don't know much about phones - but in your drawing board work, what if you use a word that encompasses their USP? Or if it is a smart phone (and I have no ideas about phones - mine texts and calls!) - then use a word combination that describe a smart phone - and then can use it if the direction of your blog changes.

Personally, I wouldn't take any of them as they are an obvious trademark infringement.

Yes i would tred carfully and take into account what alexa has said or it is possiable it will cost you alot more than you will earn. i tried to purchase a domain awhile back that was suggested to me by a guy who i paid to create adsense site and when i went to namecheap to buy the domain namecheap restricted me from buying it and said to contact support when i contacted there support to ask why i couldnt get the domain name they explained as elexa did above but they was willing to let me buy the domain but advised i didnt due to the legal reasons the had told me.
so safe to say i didnt buy it. not worth the risk

I would look at building a blog around more than one phone. You need to build an authority site .

Not even going to mention the trademark issues.

Alexa, Danny and JMcGee pretty much summed it up nicely, I'd also add that at times I used PickyDomains | Risk-Free Naming Service for some brain storming to help me find a domain name.

Like the others said, you're treading on dangerous ground using any of those domain names. Try finding one that doesn't infringe on a trademarked name and you'll be much better off. Could you slip through the cracks and not be noticed by Sony? Maybe, but that isn't a chance I'd be willing to take. I'd hate to put countless hours of work into a site only to have it ripped away from me because of the domain name I chose in the beginning.

Since keywords in domain names are not longer as important for SERP rankings as before (and I sincerely believe that in the future they will matter even lesser) go with some blog name which is generic such that you could possibly write about multiple phones. (why restrict yourself only to xperia)

And regarding your second question, yes an additional 's' would make a difference for EMDs - few years back - nowadays again EMDs do not do very well - so really does not matter.

i think this is not good for your blog if you want to create quality bolg then you should buy quality domains
