Is it a good idea to let facebook own the comments on your blog?

I like how you are now able to have a Facebook comment section on just about any piece of content you want. The only thing I worry about is whether or not it is a good idea to have Facebook own the comments or should you keep them private. What are the pros and cons to letting Facebook own/control the comments on your private blogs?

What I actually did on a couple of my sites is store the comments from facebook in my database using the social graph so I own the comments too, and then also showing html of the comments behind the facebook javascript so that google and other search engines can read the content.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Not sure of how to do that. You make it sound simple though.

its a good idea to allow it since when the visitor makes a comment it shows up on their timeline as well so their friends can see it and hopefully visit your blog/site.

Facebook comments on your blog is one trick many people should do!

By adding Facebook comments - if you create rich valued post often, then every time someone comments on your post it will be seen on their wall. Then all their friends will see it which will make your post go viral!

So yes it is a good choice. Just keep providing great value and you will soon see your content go viral - creating a ton a traffic to your website.

I never thought of that. Maybe this makes it works the tradeoff.
