Where does OptimizePress come into play in the big picture?

I've been struggling with how to set up my website for a hobby niche I'm targeting. Basically I'm not quite sure how everything ties together.

I want the site to have a lot of info so I can optimize for different keywords, fresh blog posts, content etc... But, at the same time I want to build a sales page and funnel with optimizepress.

Do I just build a site using a premium wordpress theme and add lots of content, articles, blog posts... Then build a separate sub-domain using optimizepress for the funnel page and have the call to action direct them to it?

If I only use optimizepress it isn't feasible as an information based site and I can't add much fresh content and I can't target many keywords that way. But if I build a normal site with lots of pages and content then do I just add a call to action that takes them to the optimizepress site? It's all very confusing how all of this goes together.

    OptimizePress is popular because people are lazy and it's cheap.

    If you're providing high quality and unique content on your informational site, then a call to action button whether it be an opt in or a buy now button will actually be effective. When someone knows what they're talking about or they're at least providing valuable information, they'll be more prone to at least subscribe to an e-mail list.

    Don't use Optimizepress for your site when you are looking to add lots of content. Use a wordpress theme like Thesis or StudioPress or Woo theme or have one custom made.

    Then make sure you have an optin form at the end of every blog post and the sidebar.

      But isn't a simple optin form different than an actual funnel page? Not sure which one would be more effective... I'm also struggling with whether to have an email optin as my call to action or a sales funnel page. I will be selling a video training series for a certain niche hobby. Are there any good books that show the big picture of internet marketing and how it all falls together?

        You can certainly use Optimize Press for your sales funnel.

        So you can have www.yourwebsite.com with a non Optimize Press wordpress theme and then you can have www.yourwebsite.com/subscribe as the squeeze page built in Optimize Press. You can have a number of pages within your salesfunnel.

        For example, after they optin to your list, you can have a OTO which can be built in the Optimize Press and have other offers/salespage funnels in Optimize Press.

      Does Aweber, the email list builder, provide the optin form that you can simply paste into the desired location of a wordpress blog e.g. end of a post, sidebar?

        Sure it does, you can use a standard optin box powered by Aweber and stick to the sidebar of your blog or you can use plugins like Optin Skin, Pop up Domination, WP Subscriber etc.

      I agree with what yourreviewer said: Use StudioPress/Woo for your main site. Add lots of content. Use as many plugins as you need to (cache,social,facebook,bookmarking,ad-bar etc).

      And then, have a second installation of WP in a sub-folder (NOT sub-domain).

      Like http://YourSite.com/members/
      And THAT is where you would install OptimizePress and a membership plugin like DAP (of course, I'm biased ;-).

      The reason I said sub-folder and not sub-domain, is because then, one installation of DAP can protect content on both the "members" blog (where all of your member content is going to be) and also content on the main blog (if, on occasion, you wish to protect some content on the main blog as well).

        I'm reading up on installing two wordpress version on the same domain and it looks really complicated. People are having trouble with it so would it be OK to put it in a subdomain like training.mywebsite.com? If I install a seperate wp version in mywebsite.com/training folder won't it cause issues with the installation?

          Putting multiple blogs in sub-folders is not complicated at all. It's all the same if you really look at the technology behind it: A bunch of files connecting to its own little database - that's basically it.

          We ourselves have web sites where we have installed up to 5 different blogs in sub-folders all on the same domain (not on 'sub-domains', but in 'sub-folders'). Works just fine.

          Sub-domains are really mini 'independent' domains of their own. So when you put different blogs on different sub-domains, then you won't be able to take advantage of any common software or functionality amongst them.

          But when you put them in sub-folders, they can all share common software - like DAP, for eg., which sits in the "root" domain and can protect content within all of them at the same time.

    You have it about right, don't use OP for your main site, instead use a sub-domain but I suggest you give it a generic name that can the be used for any other squeeze pages/funnels you might set up.

      So just to make sure I understand this corectly:

      1. Build a site using a premium theme such as woo themes theme...
      2. install optimizepress on a subdomain and make my funnel pages on it.
      3. Within my main site include calls to action at the bottom and side panels and throughout content that take me to the funnel page.

        Yeah it seems like that's the way to do it. And if/when you get to adding memberships (OptimizePress doesn't have it's own scripts), here's a useful thread. http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...2member-2.html I'm leaning toward DAP but would love to hear from anyone else who's using OptimizePress's membership templates.

          I've been reading a ton of reviews and DAP seems to the be more popular one among professionals. A lot of people use wishlist but I keep hearing DAP is better.

    Yea, don't use Optimizepress for Blog. There are a lot of great Premium Themes like StudioPress (I am using this) , woothemes, themeforest, elegantthemes, check also fthemes (its free).

    And yes as you said put new WP instalation in domain.com/free-report or something similar for sqeeze page and funnel.

    And put button in navigation "Free Report" or "Free Gift" or "Free Newsletter", if you will have ton of traffic some people will click on this button which lead them to sqeeze page.

    So I just go into the FTP and add a subfolder 1st. Then upload wordpress to the subfolder. Then create a database and change the wpconfig.php and that's it? Just like a normal wp install?

      Yes, correct - exactly like a regular, new WP installation.

          Just figured it out. Put it in public file. Created new database and new user. For whatever reason the install wouldn't work unless I created a new DB user and not the same user as on the install from the root domain.
