what was the one thing that changed your IM results and experience and was responsible for your first consistent income online?

    Realising that it wasn't my product that people wanted but what it did for their problem.

    i.e don't sell people a hammer, screws and a piece of wood - sell them a bookshelf.

      You turned it into a bookshelf?

      I was told, people don't want a hammer, they want a hole.

      As Andy said, people are not interested in the product but what that product will do for them. That's what you should be selling. Sell the hole not the hammer. Sell the end result not the process.

        For the right niche, hammers do make very delightful holes.

    Mindset is very important. If you have a negative mind, it is going to be a lot harder to build your business online.

    Developing enough judgment to be able to distinguish between information and misinformation, and realizing that it was essential for me to follow the advice and guidance only of people who were genuinely making a good living from doing what I was trying to do, rather than "random people" just repeating "urban myths" as if they're "information".

      I couldn't get it through my thick skull that I should be building a list.

      Now, the first thing I do when I build a blog or website is place my optin code on that side bar with a free offer to download. No list. No money.

      You simply cannot depend on being on the front page of Google for your income. Creating positive relationships, offering valuable content, and building trust with your list is vital.

    Realizing that I could use the internet as a tool to make me money on a constant basis by creating online stores that compete with retail locations who have to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to open for business.
