Ebay turned me down flat! :(

Is see a lot of eBay ads on sites I visit and thought it would be neat to add them to some of my sites too. So I applied to join eBay's partner program.

Today I got an email rejecting my application out of hand. No reason given, just a terse "Thank you for applying to the eBay Partner Network. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your application at this time."

Since a lot of people do seem to get approved - what is the secret? What have I done wrong?

Here's a link with lots of good advice on how to get accepted (not my site):

How To Get Accepted To EPN - Not John Chow Just Better Looking

I managed to get accepted into the US and UK networks a couple of months ago - I used a tutorial site that was several years old, I know know if that helped. I also ticked the box that said I was going to drive traffic via SEO rather than PPC, so as not to look like I was competing with them on the Google Ads.

Wow sorry they turned you down. Maybe it was something you "said", or the website that you submitted.

I'm a freelance web designer, so when I applied I smply sent them the URL to my website, and I gave them a laundry-list of methods that I'd use to advertise their products.

I did this with every network that I had to "apply" for, and I haven't been turned down yet.

Take a looke at the guide that Motivated" linked, and good luck next time.

Don't feel bad, they reject everybody. You have to keep after them and you will eventually get accepted if you have a quality site.

No, this isn't true at all lol. I was accepted the first time around.

      Hey Martin,

I think the network only accepts new publishers at certain times anymore. They've changed since I signed up back when almost anyone could join, so you might have to wait for a few weeks or something like that.

It may also be that you are not in the US - BUT I'm not positive about this part here.

Ebay has been crap lately anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. They aren't even making any sales..thanks to the amount of scammers they allow on their site. Don't worry about them...NEXXXT

      Well Martin

If you get rejected then I do not have a hope. When I was rejected by a CJ vendor I wrote and asked them to reconsider.

Then I got approved. no idea what it all about really

      All the best

Did you say that you'd be marketing via pay per click advertising on your application?
If so that might be an automatic denial trigger. Maybe they don't want any competition.

Also was the site you sent them to review an older site with decent content or was it a fairly new one?
A new site with little or no content on it might signal some type of blackhat marketing to their staff and might also trigger the instant denial.

The best way I have found to get accepted into tightly knit networks is to get on the telephone to explain your situation.... show how serious you are about what you do.

    Works a treat for me.

I think I sent them applications from 10 different email addresses specifying 10 different (my) websites with 10 different wording.
Among 10 clerks who routinely reject every EPN application someone missed a button and I got accepted!
I got excited and put ebay affiliate links here and there and I think I made exactly zero from it, lol...

eh, don't feel bad. I got rejected too. But I bet you next time I submit they will accept me. And if they don't, its their loss as I would have driven traffic to to their site. No biggie, just find something else to promote and then try again.

Martin, no idea, but I applied for one affiliate company via CJ which sold chocolate. They turned me down because my site wasn't relevant to the product or that's what they said. Site is in my signature, not sure how more relevant a site can be

I received an email today myself saying that they were going to close my account due to website/account dormancy. My site hasn't had any traffic, but I'm in the process of revamping it and resubmitting to SEs. I sent them a email asking for reconsideration.
    We'll see what happens.

Has anyone else gotten a email like this?

    Thanks

I got the letter too that they were shutting down my EPN account due to dormancy.

I re-applied and they turned me down flat.

I saw an email copy on another forum where ebat said they would not reconsider reinstating accounts suspended for dormancy.

EBay has this almost 100% auto reject in store for anyone not from the US or UK. You may stand a chance if you're from the second tier regions. No hard guessing where this may be.

Then they have this 100% rejection in store for anyone from certain regions of the world. This is the third tier regions to them and it's 100% auto rejection. Read - Mostly Third world countries....especially many Asian countries.

      But does it bother you?

EBay sucks and they are going downhill. Don't lose sleep over it.

I hadn't thought of that. You're quite right though, that could easily have put the kaibosh on it.

I too got the letter from EPN that my account was being shut down. I do have 3 out of 20+ websites that gets no clicks, but the rest do verywell, just not as good as before. I don't know their reasons, and with the way things are going, I really don't care anymore. I make more just from products and CPA accounts.

I did try to be reinstated, but was turned down flat. Don't really care, much better options out there.

Between keeping G happy with your site and keeping EPN happy one wonders if it is worth the effort. It's like having two cranky wives.

Personally I've been seeing about $400/month on average, and that's mainly through Y since G hates my ebay sites.

I was accepted in EPN last Feb. My suggestion would be to build a site with a lot of targeted content and with NO ADS or affiliate links. Once you have done that, submit an application using an email address not previously used.

Don't bother applying for PepperJam ebay, they are not approving anymore. EBay UK has announced they are not approving. EBAY US is but they are being selective. After you submit a site, check your cPanel to see if Ebay has visited it. If you get an out of hand rejection, send them an email and ask them to visit your site before making an assessment.

On the issue of eBay, they really put a stranglehold on the existing sellers on there. Any ratings thats LESS than 5 stars is considered a FAILING grade!! I am not talking about positive feedback at all.. They can leave you a positive and all they have to do is mark one of the extra boxes for communication, shipping time, etc., and boom, your account just got a lower grade. Here is a nice hint existing sellers.. Send out a custom flyer with your orders and let them know!! I made one very nice saying thank you, giving them a coupon code, and letting them know this and to please rate me 5 stars or they are basically hurting my account. Do the same!!! Enjoy.
