Who is actually earning a full time income with IM?

I'm curious. Are there actually a significant number of people on a forum like this who are earning a full-time income online?

No need to post actual earning but...

Whether you are or aren't, what's your status with your online income?

I, for one, am not yet earning a fulltime income online. But it is my desire.

    Hi Doug

It depends on how much you want your full time income to be. I do not earn as much as I do in my day job but it is catching up fast.

You should set some earning goals for yourself and then work out how you are going to get there.

I reckon that I will earn more online than my real job by the end of the year.

    Can't wait

    Doug,

Yes, there are several people here that make a full-time income online. There's no way to know who's really knocking it out of the park and who's blowing smoke, but I recognize a few names here that I know have been around for awhile.

I've been full-time online since November, 2007. No, I'm not "knocking it out of the ballpark" - YET :-) , there are guys and gals here that are really doing well, but I've managed to replace the income from my offline business and I'm never looking back.

One piece of advice I'll give you is that there are no "push button riches" schemes, not that I'm aware of anyway. Making a living online is HARD work and takes a lot of effort and self discipline. You've got to REALLY want it.

One way that you can start bringing in money is by writing articles. Find a good book like Travis Sago's "Bum Marketing" (it's free) and apply what he recommends in there. It's hard work, but the stuff works - I know. :-)

    Good luck,

    Joe

I myself, like a few others, make what IS considered a full time income for some...over $3000/month, but I have two other businesses as well. No question that if you stick to it, and listen to the sage advice from the experienced warriors here, you can make it happen.

            Thanks Joe.

One of the reasons I left my home office (besides not wanting staff at my house) was that. When you are home people don't respect the fact that you are working.

        Full-time IMer's aren't doing it right!

        I'm a part-time IMer

        (Getting a full-time income.)

My main focus now is building my passive income through consulting deals, membership sites and other continuity programs.

There are definitely a significant number here making a full-time income online.

By it's no means the majority, in fact it's probably more like 2%, but that is still a great number of people.

Been doing IM since very late 2001.

      Income went full time 2003.

By 2005 my passive income was substantial enough for me to take the entire year off (not sure I would do the same again but it was a relaxing year!)

My favorite money making models online have leverage and lead to passive income. Other models can make good money but they suck you into another full time job, even if you're the boss.

Depends what your definition of "full time" means. In college a full time income for me was anywhere close to $1k/month. Right now, that doesn't even pay half the mortgage/rent.

Right now I'm going to school full time for a professional that makes well over 6figures a year, full time. However, my online marketing business is already making more than I ever would with that profession. Yea I know stupid, it's more for "security" purposes.

Anyway, hope that answers your question. Thousands of people that visit this forum every day make a full time income, you probably won't see the majority of them posting here but they are out there.

"Who is actually earning a full time income with IM?"

This question can be answered pretty easily: The
ones who take major action and concentrate on
building their mailing lists earn a full time income,
usually within 3 to 6 months after starting out.

Well, the best long-term listbuilding is probably through a free to signup
membership site that you run. Of course you need to offer something
of high value, so that your affiliates promote the site for you (and build
      our list for you).

The best short-term strategy is to run your own Giveaway Event. This
also needs to be of high value and you need to get some big JV Partners
onboard who promote the event (have a big referral contest, huge commissions etc.)

Both ways have 1 thing in common: You provide the system and others
      are promoting for you.

If that's to hard for you or if you don't have the money to start such
projects, then start out by becoming a contributor to
Giveaway Events (just use as many events as you can in the beginning).

Awesome thread, nothing like this type of thread to inspire and encourage those that are new or have been battling to succeed online. Being full time and successful online, in my mind, is not rocket science, the biggest hurdle that I had to get over to reach the stage that I am now, was focus (or lack thereof).

With focus, a system that works, creativity, an open mind and a willingness to share information anyone can be successful and full time online.

My income from my Niche Market websites (280 of them) has afforded me a lifestyle that I could only have ever dreamed of while working as an online casino programmer 8 years ago. My Wife, Kids and I now don't have to worry about money, and in fact my income from my IM business has allowed me to invest in other off line businesses like property (Leasing) and 2 franchises.

The best part of the last 6 years being full time online is that I do not feel like I have worked a single day since, as this is such a dynamic and exciting industry to be involved in and loving what you do means you will never "work" another day in your life.

      Cheers

      nlfast,

Yes, passive income is the dream. It's not all about the money. (Well, different people have different goals).

As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather earn 30k a month working under 10 hours a week than earn a million dollars a year but have to work 60 hours a week for it.

If you are breaking into the affiliate marketing business, the best way to achieve the road I went down is carefully select lifetime income programs.

Not only is it possible to earn a full-time income online, it's not even that hard.

I wanted to add a post so that the purpose of the thread was achieved (to let people know there are other Warriors earning decent money online),
I also don't consider myself a full-time IMer because I have companies outside IM and I do work for other people sometimes in various capacities.

I'm not looking to get to a position where I don't have to do anything, just trying to direct things so that all of my time is enjoyable.

I feel like I'm getting there, but I don't think it's a road that ends as my focus and priorities seem to change along the way.

One thing I think it's important for people to realise is that there's a massive difference between earning money and keeping it - cashflow. A lot of the money I earn gets spent, so I don't have a stash of cash somewhere that I've saved. Most of my initial money paid off a mountain of debt that I had, and much of it since has gone into my own companies and paying people to work. I don't mind - but sometimes people seem to think that just because you make 6 figures in sales that you must be a millionaire or something (my first 6 figures were gone before I even started in IM just paying debt).

I'm sure that's true for some people but I spend what I make - whatever it is. The more I make, the more I give away to help people or put into my travelling or business.

This is way sometimes you see people here asking for help who you thought were doing well. They may have been making $10k a month and seemed well off - but they may have bought a big house and still been in massive debt. It's all relative.

When you start out it can seem like if only you could make a few hundred bucks a month it would change your life, but often the change only lasts as long as it takes you to modify your lifestyle to suck up that extra revenue.

After being laid off, I found a small-time shareware developer that was making $400/year.
I ramped up his affiliate network, did some copy, branding, and email marketing.

In 3 months we were splitting 10K after expenses. Then he let me go, I didn't have $ to sue to enforce the contract, and I had to find something else. End of story- he eventually sold the business for peanuts after things trailed off without a good marketing guy to keep feeding the fire!

Probably the biggest challenge is the ramp up time, the hit or miss nature of IM and finding what you're good at.

I'm now looking for a similar, more ethical, partner to work with, to help them sell their product.

Take all those boasts with a pinch of salt.

There is a huge difference between earning a living and earning a huge living.

I mean, if a relatively well known IMer can keep on dragging his feet over a couple of hundred dollars in refunds that he owes me, and here is a guy always claiming to make a load of money online...where does that leave you and me, the so called small fish...?

I'm finally learning that many IMer claims of big $$$ is basically BS.

Sorry, but that aspect always needs self reminding....

Yes, you can make a living from home from IM....I'm talking about the "big money," and those who purport/claim to make them....

I am making the same amount online per month as I do with my full time, 50+ hour, 6 day a week job, including the overtime.

I love what I do for a living, and even if I were to start making 6-7 figures a year, I would still be working.

My online income is steadily increasing, and I am at the point where what I do online is covering my monthly living expenses and my paycheck has become my spending/savings income.

My goal when I started was realistic, I wanted to replace my income just in case I lost my job, or something worse happened like a car accident or serious injury.

Now that I am where I want to be, it is time for me to expand my goals and reach a little higher.

It seems that so many of the people who start out in IM are misguided, and have their priorities out of whack. They jump into this game with stars in their eyes and millions on their mind, they start by buying all of the newest over-hyped products without doing any kind of research before hand (I guess this is where social proof comes into play) and before they know it they're broke, angry, frustrated, and overall they are fed up with the entire IM process.

To me that is where forums like this come into play, people usually don't find them until they have exhausted all other avenues, and are ready to give up. But then they start reading the success stories of "real people" who are making money, people who aren't making millions but who are bringing in a few hundred to a few thousand dollars a day and they start to learn what IM is all about.

Thanks to all of you who help those people in their time of need with kind words, serious explanations, and your own real experiences.

I myself am usually a quiet person, I don't join over-hyped communities, or any online communities for that matter and I like to make my moves quietly and swiftly.

I've known about this forum for quite a while but I have stayed away, now that I am venturing into uncharted territory, I realize that I can't do it alone if I want to accomplish the majority of the goals I now have, I'm going to need some help from those who have been at it for quite some time.

Thanks for giving me a place to ramble on like this, if you are trying to make money online, set yourself some goals and accomplish a few of them at a time, and with each new step you take you will get closer to achieving your main objective.
