I just had to convert my site into a membership site...:(

I am all for a free and open web, but its days like today that spammers really drive me up the wall.

For several months now, I have enjoyed interacting with countless great marketers who love to write and many of whom are very talented.

No doubt several of them are right here from Warrior Forum.

One of the really fun things to watch is budding young IMers begin writing for the first time and getting excited when their content goes live.

I really enjoy running the site, but as of late, I have been watching several SEO firms open a new account just to submit one article.

This is a tactic that obviously protects them from leaving a footprint and getting articles mass deleted if they begin breaking rules.

For this reason, I now have to charge $1 USD for each account opened.

Once an account is opened for $1 USD, then they are free to submit as many articles or posts as they like.

The only reason I did this is because there were people abusing the system.

I wholeheartedly understand now why WF went to paid submissions.

Ultimately, a portion of any businesses time has to be dedicated to those who abuse the system...its unfortunate.

Regardless, were forging ahead.

It is truly a shame that we have to spend so much time on abusers. I spent a lot of time in the past 12 hours dealing with an apparently new form of malware that was placed on one of my clients' sites. You just shake your head and move ahead.

It IS unfortunate, sorry you've got to deal with that.

Hopefully, taking that step will generate an even higher caliber of members for you though. Just paying one dollar can separate the serious from the not pretty easily. Look at the the marketers that sell a product for a buck to start a buyers list. I suspect you'll find value in what you did in the long run. Good luck.

Give them a loophole and they'll dig a canyon out of it. It's unfortunate, but it's the way it is.

I sympathize with your annoyance, but at the same time, I'm kind of excited for you; this just might become a fantastic upgrade to your business, which could mean more profits.

I say that because I believe even without the abuse, the dollar join fee raises the value of your membership a lot more than just a dollar's worth imo. I say that because it isn't just the amount of money that matters; it is the willingness and ability to pay at all; many people won't ever spend a dime on you; they just want free stuff forever no matter how much value you provide.

Whatever you do to monetize, whether selling solo ads, affiliate offers, or your own products or services, you will have a far more receptive audience among a few thousand $1 members than you would among the same number of free members.

So take heart; this might prove to have been a very profitable move for you!
