What is the best way to promote a big ticket item for free?

by cash365 11 replies
Hi, folks,

What is the best way to promote a big ticket item for free?

I want to promote a high ticket product as an affiliate, the product is sold on webinars, the owners claim a 50% conversion rate (sounds fishy to me, they showed results for 3 webbys: about 20, 35 and 48% conversion, which anyway is below 50%).

I can't believe in this conversion rate, because the product costs 997 USD...but with 50% commission I just need 1 sale to go on a paid method... but for now it has to be free... (an agreement with my wife...)

The product is a complete package to turn any person into an offline marketer ASAP

Thanks in advance for your insights!

If those prospects were all highly targeted previous buyers, who bought a $197 and a $497 product from the same vendor and found them outstandingly good, then those are actually possible conversion-rates, very remarkable though they seem.

If they're allegedly cold sales to new customers, then someone's pulling your leg, clearly.

$997 products can successfully be promoted to your own valued list-subscribers who know and trust and respect you. It doesn't matter whether you've built the list in free or paid ways, if that's the case. But these are typically products/services sold by affiliates to customers making their second/third/fourth purchase through the affiliate, not their first.

Any person? ASAP? It's losing a little plausibility with me, already ... if the sales material really claims that, you may possibly have a slight credibility problem promoting it at all? Sorry to sound negative, here, but I'm instinctively on your wife's side ... (and I say that as someone who makes some occasional affiliate sales at those and much higher prices).

Bring to bear your excellent list-building skills and gradually acquire increasing credibility and trust by initially promoting much lower-cost items in the same niche, to the same subscribers. That's where most of the money is, in affiliate marketing. You probably won't often make a $997 sale, online, to someone who doesn't already know and trust you. Just "keeping it real", here.

OK, so I just gave Alexa┬┤s awesome post some thought and came to the conclusion that if the only way to make a high ticket sale is with a list that trusts you, but if you do not have a list in that niche, one way to make it work would be through other people's lists.

What's the best way to pull this off?

Yes, this is true ... but to do a joint venture of any kind with anyone, you have to bring to the table something that they don't already have themselves, on their own table. As a product vendor, of course, that can be "the product".

But when you're an affiliate yourself, you have to ask yourself how the list-owner is going to be better off promoting on your "affiliate-behalf" rather than simply becoming an affiliate himself for the same thing, and not needing to share the income with you.

I don't say that it's a question without an answer (and I don't know enough about JV's to suggest that), but it's certainly the obvious question? I'm (kind of) suggesting that "the list" is such a huge proportion of the potential benefit from this activity that by comparison it isn't immediately apparent what "being an affiliate for the product" puts on the table?

          Dear Alex and Claire,

thank you so much for your help!

I think I have my head right now: the problem is that we always want to use a shortcut to the quickest and biggest income... but for the best results we have to start from the beginning, building a real business with our buyer lists who will be confident to buy always higher priced items if they are satisfied with the purchased products...

Your viral ideas are great, Claire, thanks, I have looked into that part a lot, because it is the obvious way to hit a home run... but I had never realized the power of blackhat forums to make your content go viral, very nice tip!

So I will dig into my hard disks, because I have a LOT of material to make some fine free and paid products and build my funnel to get my buyer's list...

I contacted a filipino virtual assistant who will charge me

          2 hours everyday- 5 days a week - $ 250 for 1 month

          4 hours everyday- 5 days a week - $ 350 for 1 month

          6 hours everyday- 5 days a week - $ 450 for 1 month

          8 hours everyday- 5 days a week - $ 550 for 1 month ( full time Service)

how do you see these rates? The woman has an impressive CV, with 4 years into the business...

My overall impression, both from conversations I've seen in this forum and services I've seen advertised, is that these figures are a little higher than the average, and that that's probably right for someone with an impressive CV and 4 years' VA experience?

I've seen the figure of $400 per month "full-time" mentioned in many places, but I think that's probably referring to an "average person" and you're probably talking here about an "above-average person"?

I've never employed anyone there, but my guess is that this is about right? (You can perhaps start off at 10 hours per week, and see what the service is like with a view to building it up?).

            Here's how that goes:

That person in the Philippines, with $550/mo full time wages, will be able to afford a lifestyle in Manila that's similar to a lifestyle in Los Angeles of someone with similar credentials and expertise who earns $5500/mo full time wages. If that person's in any province of the Philippines, then her lifestyle in that Philippine province will be similar to the lifestyle in Los Angeles of someone who's earning $6050/mo full time wages...

why is video marketing not a good idea? build your list at the same time. But even better, if you know off line why aren't you already doing a free WSO, classified and digital point product to get your list going? Thats the fastest way IMHO. Offline products appeal to this forum.

(if you really want this you'll create an amazing webpage (landing page)) that will convert use the programs website as your basis, also, use wordpress and start bookmarking it, pinging it, submit it to rss sites, other backlinks then you have a place to send your paid traffic when you can. .info is ok go to namecheap their 3.99 last time I bought one.

to get started just get another good domain name and redirect it to the affiliate program. If you do both you can redirect a subdomain to keep it cheap.

Just always remember if you go free, you will need to hussle. Theres no other special way - to best way free is free.

    Then

just sit down and start free advertising do it all at least two things for every type each day till you get that sale. Other email thats free may not convert a big ticket at all but you never know.
You know which ones are free right? You know the free ways to advertise. Besides video's (review video's I mean), theres articles, classifieds, forums, answers sites, social marketing

true! digital point IS FREE. I don't know how hot offline is over there but lets check it out I always think about promoting offline over there. I would put a paid product on there though and....

If you have your link for the affilaite program in the first product you could get your sale before you know it.

You'd get extra money and start your list that way.

then you COULD DO YOUR WSO. You only need the WSO section $40, you can set up a seperate page for the order button and just make sure your link to click to order is HUGE and explain order button on the other side. Just set paypal to redirect to your product if you don't want to hand deliver. The cool thing about a free WSO is that it can go everywhere, even a paid on that has your link inside could end up on every blackhat forum.

        think viral

think you could do a quick digital point product and set it up while you are advertising a redirected link? I know I could if really wanted it.

There is a product circulating for years 463 in 4 hours (find the thread and read the testimonials( and its all about how to get that money on digital point. Lots of people have success with this method. $20 for a classified on the warrior forum.

Are you a warrom member then submit a free report in there.

I would do 10 videos, reviewing the product, with you actual voice because now ones going to but from robot. More personal the better. Try to rank for 10 long tail keywords and put you affiliate link in the video description and that should get you your first sale.
