Questions about selling a product on clickbank

So I wanted to know if there would be benefits of selling my already popular software product on Clickbank? Would it likely increase traffic? Pagerank?

Also, if the product sells for only $30, how much of that would I have to give up to get affiliates interested in trying to push my product?

Thank you in advance if you know the answers.

Also, can I require people to sign up and get the product from my site? Or does clickbank have to deliver it?

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

If you get affiliates sending their traffic to your sales page, it'll clearly increase your traffic.

If you sell it for (let's say) $29.97 (?), and offer 75% commission, the affiliates' cut after ClickBank deductions will be $20.04. That's not a bad figure in the sense that it will just include within their search parameters all the affiliates who filter the products from ClickBank's Marketplace with a $20.00 lower cut-off. If you sold it for $29 instead, you'd perhaps lose many of those, without their even being aware of your product, because that way their cut would come to only $19.37 (an "unfortunate" figure, perhaps, when you think of it in terms of a $20.00 cut-off which some affiliates use).

ClickBank doesn't have to deliver it (for example, if you use e-Junkie in conjunction with ClickBank, e-Junkie can deliver it, enabling you to take advantage of their PDF-stamping device, to discourage illicit sharing of the product), but normally it does, from your site.

ClickBank is only a retailer. There's nothing to stop you from selling the product additionally/separately anywhere else you like. (Though whether you'd be able to attract any serious affiliates, at ClickBank, if you were doing that as well, is another question).

You can add buyers to your list automatically. In theory you can even have an opt-in for prospects on the sales page (but that would lose virtually all serious, pro-affiliates and make it probably not worth your while selling through ClickBank at all).

PS, sorry - ignore my comment above about e-Junkie's PDF-stamper: I've just realised you're probably talking about a software product? In which case ClickBank will deliver the download link to it, after customers pay ClickBank via the order-page.

The guru has spoken but I would say your script is not a great fit for CB.

Think weight loss and MMO for CB. Your stuff looks to good to go on there.

I think it would do great , if you launched it right. It would open a lot of affiliate's to your product and you could make a killing with it. I post cb product sometimes , do not promotion of my own and dont ask any affiliate's and still get sales.

Alexa, how come you didn't mention specific price points, especially the ones ending in 7? (actually, I just want to find an excuse to share this article, although it doesn't relate to marketing: This column will change your life: Seven - a magic number? | Oliver Burkeman | Life and style | The Guardian.)

Well, I kind of assume (perhaps not always rightly), in this context, that when people say "$30" for a price, they're probably talking about something more like $29.97 ... (or sometimes even $27?).

      Interesting article.

Clickbank sells over 10,000 products and has an army of affiliates. Your commission pay out would be the other side of 70% but you would make something on EVERY sale. The numbers could be high. J Paul Getty once said "I would rather make 1% from 100 men's efforts than 100% from my own efforts. And he was a Billionaire! Yes you can sell your product by whatever means, even if CB has it. Good luck.

The largest reason I moved to ClickBank was all due to 1 Click Upsells!!! This will grow your business instantly! have a solid upsell offer to show your customers and I guarantee nearly 30% or higher will take you up on it.

Affiliates are slow to find your product and promote it, unless you already have a email list of affiliates ready and waiting to promote your product.

Also I would not put any MMO products on ClickBank as most people know they can buy under their affiliate link for 75% off... Or even worse, they know they can instantly get refunds on the product.

It sounds like Clickbank would have to deliver the product, and I am not really okay with that. If you know of any software products of quality that are for sale on Clickbank that I could model after let me know.

Just to clarify: the product is downloaded from your site. All you do is provide ClickBank with the URL of the download page.

They have to register and agree to our terms as well as enter a domain name where they will be using our product before they download, so it is not as simple as providing a download link.

I also might part with 20% of $30 but not greater, so seems like a "no go" for me.

I think so, probably: after ClickBank deductions, 20% of let's say $29.97 is going to leave the affiliates with only $5.35. I'm wondering if some sort of joint venture with suitable marketers with enormous, reasonably well-targeted lists might actually be a better proposition for you than a ClickBank listing (but you may have done this before)?

Thanks for your input. Yes, that would probably do a lot better. Where would one go about finding a good situation?

I know nothing about joint ventures (because I don't "play well with others" or trust people easily ), but I'd certainly look here: Warrior Joint Ventures

CB Marketers expect more, towards the 75% commission. As others said, I don´t think you would get any interest at the 20% mark.

Finding a JV Partner is indeed very hard. I´ve been looking for one for a while and not found the right person, they all want to sell soloads and thats a route I don´t want to take. I feel that commissions should be earned on results and soloads don´t do it for me. Like you I want someone dedicated and with big lists, but proven in my niche. A few people have said they will help, but i´m not convinced they are a good fit for me, I want to be sure of the right partner, and that is rather hard to nail down.

The benefit is that affiliates already have an account and many will try you out if they find you.

The $30 product would be expected to give up 75%, $21.

Yea, no way that is going to happen. We have so many people come to us with ways to increase sales and add value. I do like to look at the possibility of adding an affiliate program in case there is something new, but right now maybe we should just keep doing what we are doing. It's working.
