Hi,

I think most of you know the Thesis theme for WP.

It looks nice but its nothing special and imo its priced too high
with $87.

Is there something like this here on WF. Searched a lot but couldnt
find it.

Personally I don't think I'd go with Thesis at all anymore. Depends on how good you are at development, but Thesis IMO is NOT for people who are after a framework without needing to know HTML, CSS etc.

Thesis 2.0 is even more confusing than the previous iterations...

I'd go Headway or Genesis for a framework that easier to navigate with Headway winning out.

For a pretty comprehensive list of frameworks I came across this:

I can't verify anything on there, but it looked pretty comprehensive!

      Hi Lucille

I have been reading about the SEO benefits of Genesis. Do you have any information on how these two themes compare specifically with regard to SEO?

You could search the WSO forum for Wordpress themes, some are being sold here every once in a while, and usually, they are under-priced.

I generally grab the free version while developing, once I go live, and earn some decent amount with that project. I but the theme later.

Genesis also looks nice but its not so cheap either. I have already searched for WSOs but didnt come across a theme like Thesis or Genesis, more things like Amazon templates.

The Catalyst Theme also looks very nice but again too expensive.

Good point. That was the reason why I asked for Thesis because it's very fast with loading (important for SEO too!) and its coding is done in a way that the content is in the top so that spiders read that first instead of the nav bar.

Btw, Will, your case study looks great but when did you begin with it and how much do you earn now? (a bit out-of-topic but too interesting to let pass by)

The thing with premium themes is you usually get your money's worth. I am a big fan of the Genesis Framework. You have the initial cost of the framework but you can then use it on unlimited sites.

As far as SEO goes, Thesis probably (slightly) gets the upper hand but I use a third party plugin for my SEO settings anyway.

In my opinion, Genesis is much easier to set up and configure than Thesis, yet you have the ability with added Studiopress plugins to make it as complex as you want.

Here is a video review I just uploaded a couple days ago. It may help with your decision.

Flexibility 3 was my go-to theme for years because of its integration with many services and ease of use. I'm currently on an old version of Thesis (1.8b I think) and not even sure why. I will likely be switching back soon.

    Oh, and it's free!

It's worth more than $87 IMO. I am not a big fan of 2.0 but you can still use 1.85 which is better than many of the top themes out there.

You can try free ones as well, for example Montezuma WP Theme which tops my latest fav list.

This theme lets you change css styles from the WP dashboard without having to edit files, if you make a mistake you can always load back the default styling with a click of a button.

I've build Wild Animals TV using Montezuma Theme, take a look and compare with Thesis.

Another vote for Montezuma. With practice you can do whatever you want with it. This site (nothing for sale) was made with it. The menubar needs work!

I use Thesis and it is worth the money and more!

Still if you don't want to go for it stick with the standard theme that you get with Wordpress and add All in one seo plugin, Google XML sitemaps and then focus on providing quality, updated content and you should do ok.

I know $87 is expensive for some people, but if you want quality you have to pay the price. If you are looking to spend $20 or so, all you'll get are the "slap it up" templates offered in the WSO section you won't get a established framework for cheap...

I use Headway and Genesis and i still go old-school sometimes using XsitePro...
