Start-up Questions
After browsing this site for a few days and researching information, I have decided to become a member in order to learn more and I hope to contribute to the great information that has been flowing through there forums.
I have to start with a little of my experience...I am completely new to IM(today is my one week anniversary of researching and learning), and I have decided to try IM as a way to generate a second income for the future. I am a Senior in college and will be graduating in May, and as I will soon be starting my career I would like to also be an internet entrepreneur on the side.
So you know, I have seen a lot of posts the past few days on these forums of people thinking going into IM will be a quick fix to all of their financial problems, they will be making thousands daily, etc.....thats not me. I know this is something that you get only what you put into it, and it takes time to learn the ropes of it...and in starting to do so, even though my clickbank account has read "$0" for the past week, I have become addicted to reasearching, learning, and working with affiliate marketing.
I have decided to begin in affiliate marketing, it has seemed to be the lowest start up cost( I'm a poor college student:rolleyes and it was very interesting for me.
I am going to show everyone what I have done so far, step by step, and would love any constructive criticism...but keep in mind I am brand new to IM, and have even had to research how to use clickbank, godaddy, etc.
1. I went to clickbank.com, and decided to market a golf product because I am a golf enthusiast and am very passionate about the game. Now I do not know if this was a correct product to choose( I kind of chose it on impulse and did not do any kind of research for the target market:confused but I will ask about that later in the post.
2. I went to godaddy.com and bought a domain for my affiliate site. The site link is...... simplegolftoday.com.... Feel free to go and check it out and give me any criticism on the site I chose
3. I set up a blog at blogger.com. The blog is targeted to give a positive, yet realistic review on the product. The link to simplgolftoday.com is on the bottom of the review. This is the link to my blog..... simplegolftoday.blogspot.com.... I really do not know if it is good or not, if it sells people, or what...I would really appreciate criticism on this too. (I am also in the process of learning how to use google analytics in order to track the traffic in my blog and to see what sources traffic is coming from.)
4. I wrote some press releases and submitted them to ...
free-pressrelease.com
i-newswire.com
pr.com
clickpress.com
The press releases I had made were not that great....it was my first try and I am set on improving them. At the bottom of the press releases I include a link to my blog
This is about as far as I have gotten so far. I was getting ready to post on other people's blogs, yahoo answers, and write some articles but did not want to delve in that far if I do not have a good product.
I would like to know anyone's input in how I have done so far....My main concern is really my product. I feel that golf swing products may be a saturated market and was wondering if I sould go into a more unique niche or something like that..... a few other ideas I have had for an affiliate are Forex trading software(I am a finance major and trying to break into the Futures and Options industry, so I am naturally interested in this) and online casino gaming software that supposedly gives you an edge playing roulette, and handicaps sports games for you.
The thing is, I do not know what niche is good right now, I have tried looking at "google trends" so I could see what people are looking for and could not find much.
Thank you so much anyone that can give me feedback! I am sorry for posting so long, but I did not want to annoy anyone by posting 20 different threads on the subject.
Thanks again.
J
