Why do MOST people FAIL at Blogging?

Still, when it comes to marketing, blogging is quite an effective means of getting email leads and sales. Blogging helps you direct the reader's attention and get them to think about what you want them to think about. Sadly, too many marketers PISS AWAY the power of blogging by failing to BRAND.
To be successful at mainstream whitehat blogging (I don't consider autoblogs mainstream), you have to BRAND. There are simply just way too many other blogs out there that snipe keywords and aim to make some quick cash using adsense and other contextual ad platforms. If you want your blog to become a DESTINATION, you have to brand.
What puzzles me is why bloggers refuse to step up and develop their blogs as BRANDS? It's not like it is a big mystery. You only need to OWN your blog-put your personality front and center.
There's a magic word in blogging. This word is *I*. That's right-you have to insert YOURSELF in the picture. You can't rattle on about things in an impersonal way and signal to your reader that you don't really have your HEART in the game. Throw yourself into the subject matter. Blogging is PERSONAL. It's all about you. Listen-if people wanted to read news, they'd go to CNN or FT or some other established news outlet instead of some rinky dink blog. NO-they came to YOUR blog to read what YOUR spin is. So stop merely rewriting news but GET ON IT like white on rice and ENGAGE your reader.
Everything you do is BRANDING. From your theme to your word choice to how you interact with your site visitors-everything reflects on your CHARACTER. So act with care. Are you communicating the right values? Can people see by your actions that they can TRUST you? Can people see by your actions that you have NO conflict of interest and would mislead or rip them off?
Branding is all about running a marathon-not a sprint. If you have a get rich quick mentality, it might work against you if it leads you to destroy your brand through sales short cuts and lies. Your brand-your character-is at stake. Act accordingly. Protect it with your life.
