Imagine you have $20k. You want to create an online passive income stream of $2-3k a month within 60 days.

Where do you spend the money?

Estores? Is that a brand or are you suggesting any kind of ecommerce store? What kind of store? What niche? What would you do to bring traffic? Dropship or digital?

I meant an e commerce store. I will probably sell a digital product, as for traffic if i had 20k, I would rank my keyword

I would learn affiliate marketing. You need money to make money as a successful affiliate pulling in $x,xxx+ per month.

At first you lose money testing and testing and testing. Then you finally hit success but if you don't really have money, you only run traffic for like 5 days then sit the rest of the month until you get your payout. Then the process repeats. With cash on hand, you can up front the advertising costs and run a successful campaign at full blast for a month till your payouts come.

After you master this process, then go start your estore or whatever because you will now be able to effectively promote it.

I highly suggest to stay away from SEO until you have money to blow or time to waste. One update to Googles algorithm and all your backlinks and site updates will mean zip when you are on page 20 in search just because Matt Cutts made a typo or wanted to try something new...

SEO is for people without money, or with a lot of money. Anyone else is risking their entire marketing on something that could disappear at any moment. I recently met someone who built a big business on SEO but now is in deep after Panda and about to go bankrupt. He is now desperately trying to learn how to use paid traffic.

You don't need 20K to start an ecommerce store. Even with a Facebook Ad to get traffic it doesn't cost that much. It just takes work and dedication to the project mostly.

If I wanted an instant earning ecommerce store, I'd use 20K to buy one that was already earning and established.

Ecommerce companies can spend over 10k per month advertising on Facebook, I know of some. Why stop at one facebook ad? Do multiple campaigns on facebook, adWords, BingAds, etc etc... there are even more sources out there. Once you get multiple sources running you will see trends like Bing is far surpassing the ROI of Facebook, so you will then move most of your facebook budget over to Bing. etc etc...

Ecommerce sites can spend 1M a month, but the hypothetical question was if you have $20K total to invest.

I would start a network of dropship sites stocked with engaging and original product descriptions. I would integrate it thoroughly with social buying technology and mobile app hooks. I would foster a community so the site's traffic grows on a viral basis.

This sounds interesting. Is there any supporting info you could point me to? Which products? What store platform to use? What are app hooks? Social buying technology? Sounds like good stuff.

Where do your passions lie? You will be throwing away that $20,000 if your passion does not lie with what you are investing in. For example, for $20,000 I can set you up in an exotic animal importing company that doubles your money every time you invest. So If you spent $5,000 on building a greenhouse or just building enclosures then imported animals every month bringing in 4,000 worth in animals every month that would be profiting you 4,000 plus giving you money to fall back on. However, if you do not like the business you will not spend time with the animals to ensure they thrive and even though you may be selling animals at first, within the first few months you will probably get a bad reputation and not be able to sell them in the future.

I know that is a vague example. But, my point is that you need to care about what you are investing in and not just taking some random idea from people that more than likely haven't made their own business profit to the numbers you are expecting.

Oops, I actually just noticed that you said passive. I'm not sure you would be able to get a passive income of that much by a one time investment. No matter what it is, you will have to put some work in to it.

My most passive idea was to find an offline niche that, for the most part, had business owners who had crappy websites. Then building a freewebs website (wix / weebly ) clone site focused on that niche and charge people $20 / month to host their custom made site (using a premade template). I would assume you could get the site done for around $1000-$2000.

But you would still have upkeep on the site.

If I had 20k to invest in, then I would definately create 6 niche sites (with excellent quality content), not mini but authority ones. I would spend 1000$ average on each website, and then spend the remaining on marketing those manually (as I know a lot about marketing myself).

Perhaps you can hire a team that can build software, graphics and a sales page. This way you can outsource the whole process of creating a product and see results within a month or 2 .

I really appreciate all the feedback here. I am hoping also that other people reading this thread can use this as a catalyst for their own aspirations.

The ideas around creating sites and selling digital products are interesting. The ideas about buying existing sites is also interesting. The problem is knowing how to decide which products to sell or which sites to buy? I have various passions and can get interested in most anything. My primary passion as of now is building a system that will generate 2-3k a month in income with little to minimal maintenance effort. I am all for working hard to get something started but would like to arrive at a place where I am doing little or no work and making money either by way of a system that requires little maintenance or that can be outsourced easily. The problem seems to be knowing what niches to get into.

    Hi,

I was in your shoe before and my goal was actually 20% return instead of 10-15% return monthly.

To build passive income, allocate some funds to:

    1) Invest in some legit Digital Assets Sites that already collect decent Passive income from Adsense without work even after all the various updates

If you bought a few websites at 1k, and the sites are making $100-150 in adsense monthly ... you hit your 10% monthly target

    2) Buy some digital real estates (domains) and flip it at profit

If you bought a premium 3 letter domain $200 and sell it for $220 that month ... you hit your 10% target

    3) Invest in small business that will provide monthly profit payout (invest in talent)

If you found someone honest or a friend who have a good business model and you invest $5k and that person pays you $500/mth out of his profit ... you hit your 10% target

I try to hit my 20% investment target monthly but sometimes some investment may screw up and the target get skewed a little to around 10-15% returns.

Just have to shop around and diversified your risk.

Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

I agree with sbucciarel. I would buy an already established and well earning site. Of course it should fit your interest. Why try something new if you can have something that already is a proven winner?

Researching this. I have been becoming addicted to Flippa as of late. Not entirely sure if that's the best place to look though.

Having money to start with makes things easier but if you have the attitude (not saying you do, just in general) that you can just throw money at something and you'll end up making a profit it can go quite wrong. You need to spend time thinking about what YOU want to do, preferably something you have an interest in so you don't mind spending time and money on it.

    Great question Netprenuer!
I would spend that money definitely on product creation. Specifically software creation. I'm thinking of software for SEO, software for optimizing and creating web pages for mobile viewing. Creating mobile apps and creating various services for mobile industry and business. I would turn my attention to mobile because it is the future. In a year or two there will be more people going on the internet from smart phones then from desktop computers. There are many possibilities for what I could start and warrior forum is one of the places where I could conclude what could be successful product and that would be my guide which way I should follow. With creating my own products I would grow my name in internet marketing community. I would be building my brand name. Around my product I would grow network of super affiliates and providing them with all necessary tools to promote my products. Of course they would be greatly rewarded for that. Results of all that activities would be every day growing email list with which in time I could make even greater profits. One more thing, I would definitely built membership sites with quality content and that way I would be secured with recurring income. With all that built when income would afford that I would hire other people to run all that for me so I could have free time and money at the same time.
