Switching AR's (Aweber to GetResponse) which subscribers should I ditch?

I'm switching AutoResponders from Aweber to GetResponse,
And I want to take the opportunity to ditch the non-responsive subscribers from my list -- Which is most of them!!

Obviously I will let the people who haven't clicked or opened an email since ever go. - I realize that this isn't 100% accurate as if people have their emails set to not view images (the gmail default), the tracking pixel will not be accurately read.

I will send a few emails out with freebie offers to get people to sign up to new AR.
Edit: and hopefully to wake up the some of the sleepers!

Any other ideas on how I should proceed?

PS. I prefer GetResponse, due to patronizing email I got from Aweber regards a few spam complaints. I also find GR more friendly to the info marketing crowd. And suspect that Aweber are becoming more corporate friendly. See this thread for my reasoning: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-oh-irony.html I also find the Aweber html editor interface a bit annoying!

You can try sending more messages but keep pruning the list. Maybe there's a way to salvage the bulk of the members through constant pruning and also provide 'upsell' opportunities to a 'pure buyers' list. Create several lists and filter your users. While most of a typical list might turn out to be coal, there is bound to be quite a few diamonds in there as well.

why dont you also send some freebie to all the subscribers at Aweber as an additional check before pruning the list

Unless your subscriber amount is pushing you over the limit of a cheaper plan id just keep them...

I find myself in the same situation as you are. I will first broadcast an email to my list telling them I am switching services, and if they want to re-confirm being part of my list, they will be getting 1 or 2 free reports and perhaps some other freebies as well. (Haven't decided yet).

I think your idea of sending a few emails to see who is active is good . I think you should send at least 10 emails (or send emails for 3 weeks) just to be sure about which subscribers are active. I'm a subscriber in alot of Internet marketers lists and I usually check 1 out 3 emails.

As you said yourself, you should lose most of them once switching to GR as they won't open/confirm the switch. However for future times, you could save some bucks just sending out to those inactive subscribers a re-engagement email, if not responding to that, they'll be off the list.
By the way not sure if you made the switch already, but getresponse are offering a 1 year free landing page creator (worth $180) to new annual subscribers until the end of the year.

Focus on writing 3 or 4 killer subject lines and try to get people to re-engage before you move them,

But you will lose a lot of your list even the engaged ones. One other thing to consider is that there are a number of developments happening with aweber and 3rd party providers with regards to their api.

You'll be able to do stuff that infusionsoft & OAP does such as tagging and moving people between list based on actions.

    Hi all,

You can move your list and have the confirmation waived. We have a process we follow to ensure there are no problems with the list and if there are no issues, the list will be imported without sending the confirmation. There's no assurance your list will be approved though, but if it's healthy, there shouldn't be a problem for most people.

Joshter and Techbul, I'm happy to answer any questions directly. Just drop me a PM.

And Joshter, thanks for the kind words. We really do support the IM community and I'm personally committed to doing my absolute best to help warriors as best I can.
