(well maybe a few leftovers I've forgotten about/haven't sold off/domains haven't expired yet)

make living: yes

plan on making: none

time to make: couple months (2-3) to set up - advertising & updates ongoing

Too many. We got caught up in it all years ago and kept creating one site after another. We realized after about 25 sites that only a handful of pages on any of our sites were actually making any money, so why were we creating more sites?

We only needed a handful of pages to make a decent income. So we stopped building sites and instead chose pages on one of our sites that were already getting traffic and reworked those pages until they were the best they could be. Then we focused on getting even more traffic to those pages and just adding good quality content over time.

It worked!!

2 or 3 planned at the moment depends if get any other ideas!

How long does it take for you to set up each site?

month or more planning then day or 2 to build then couple of months to perfect!

20+ sites but im letting most of them expire next year as they were affected in the awful Penguin update. Managing so many sites is madness especially as you need to backlink them also. I think a quality over quantity approach is required for this lark.

I used to have 60+ sites a few years ago. I now currently have 3, but one makes the majority of my money - I certainly make a lot more from these 3 than I did with the 60+

I plan to build another 2 or 3 over the next 12 months. My wife is going to manage them so I can remain focused on my number one site which brings the income. The new sites will not be in the same niche as the main site.

Yes, I make a living from it.

The main site has been developed over the last 3 years, although it made income from about month 2 or 3, it's certainly got better as time goes on it consists of one static site of about 60 pages plus various sub domains which are blogs of the same niche (and direct traffic to the static site), they have thousands of posts (not unique content). The static site is a monthly subscription site and there is a high price tag course we offer. The other two sites, one is a related niche and the other is totally non related, they make minimal income, not worth talking about at this stage.

Niche sites owned: 10 or so

I'm definitely not making much money off of my niche sites at the moment, but every little bit counts. I'm not making a full-time income off of them. If you count everything I'm doing online (Kindle books, ebooks, niche sites) I'm getting pretty close to making a respectable full-time income.

I used to have hundreds of sites. All WP sites. All content done by outsourcing. All logos are online design(instant). Most of the time i check the content quality and SEO stuff.

I have over 150 sites, but mostly on Blogger and Web 2.0 pages, to save money and to not bother with them much once built out. Set and forget it sort of thing. Between that and freelancing, flipping/wholesaling and other IM work I make a living.

I own about 40-50 sites.
The earnings are constantly going up... If it stays this way, I should get enough from them in 2013 to make a living out of this.
There are some sites that didn't take more than 20 minutes to set up. But others (with about 50 articles on them) obviously take a little longer as they're a work in progress.

I see, same happens to me when it comes to making niche sites. one might take me some hours to set up while bigger niches take me some times weeks to complete and prepare.
