Is it ok just to insert your voice into a youtube video?

I have been thinking about maybe adding a video to my site, but I just don't want to film myself. Would it be acceptable to do a voice over to a presentation?

In my mind, absolutely. This is a common practice and often comes off as more professional anyway.

OK! . People said I should put "myself" out there, and not just my product. It kind of just came to me how alot of IM'ers do it, and a lot of people on Youtube too. Thanks!

If the video and post-processing is done properly, adding voice to a presentation can improve the whole video in many ways. Just think of how all the webinars or all the phone reviews are made.

I guess I was talking about more of voice vs voice and video taping yourself.

I would hire someone with a proper and professional voice if you are selling anything. But webinars and training videos from yourself should contain your voice obviously.

I was skeptical about doing this too. I hated my voice when I first started doing this! However, they've been wildly successful and my channel has almost 1 million views (more than anyone else in my niche!).

If you're planning on doing this I would recommend spending about $100 and buying a nice microphone for your computer. I personally use the Snowball microphone and it has been excellent!

I just want to clarify something.

From the title of this thread I assumed you were talking about adding YOUR voice over someone else's Youtube video. Is that what you are planning to do? If so, no, you cannot do that.

But you are more than welcome to put your own voice in your own videos.

You don't need to film yourself talking about your product. I think it is a great idea to do your own voice over for a presentation for your product.

  • If your voice and accent is great, then definitely! It adds more element to your videos, and it will look more "professional", and people would visit it more.
