Anyone experienced at using press releases?

I've read that press releases can do many positive things regarding ranking, backlinks, traffic, and Google ranking.
Anyone with any experience with using press releases and if so, could you share some information so I could get started successfully.

I have been doing Press Release Marketing for myself and clients for many years now. Great for traffic and quality links. Depending on what your press release is about, will determine how many views you get. I also suggest spending the extra money for PR Web, especially if your news in National or Global. Good luck !!!

I have a couple of clients that I feel have done better by pursuing people in the press like newspaper writers directly. You'll find often there are people in the press that have an email where you are invited to share if you have an interesting story. This can work really well wants you get good at finding people.

I have been doing Press Release Marketing over a decade. Press Release Distribution is not an exclusive SEO service but it brings in enormous value to SEO and the most wanted service in SEO. Press release distribution helps not only to gain back links but also bring enormous benefits such as

    Brand Awareness
    Credibility
    Targeted Visitors
    Free Publicity
    Authority in Search Engine Rankings

Years ago, sending a press release that I wrote got my company onto page one of the Wall Street Journal.

You can read the story of how this happened in my book 6 Steps to Free Publicity, which is in many public libraries in the U.S.

Press releases I have written for clients have gotten them onto CNN, CNBC, the New York Times and many other A-list media outlets.

So yes, I would say this can produce results.

This is the very reason why press releases are going to get the smack down soon.

Anyone that's been involved in SEO long enough knows that they're used more-so now for rankings rather than "news".

John I'd have to qualify your comment by saying
that small, medium and large companies use press releases
for news, while an increasing number of individuals and
small businesses have "given up" on using releases for news.
(and now many tend to use press releases for seo purposes)

One reason for this is because most people don't know
how to properly leverage a press release.
A huge number of releases on PRWeb are not newsworthy
      so they'd never ever get "pickups" by the media;
and a huge number are incorrectly written in "first person"
style--which automatically excludes them from getting
media pickups. And a whole bunch sound like a pathetic
sales pitch. (again, excluding them from getting pickups)

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Warrior named Bob. He was sad. And frustrated. You see, Warrior Bob spent every last nickel on Internet Marketing e-books. But nothing panned out. No traffic. No sales. He was one sad Bob. Then one day Bob found a bottle. He rubbed it and out came a Genie who granted him 3 wishes. For Wish #1 Bob asked for a pet Dragon. Wish Granted. For Wish #2, Bob wanted Warriors' websites seen by 53 million TV viewers, for under $5 per broadcast. The Genie said... (click here)

    Hi Frank,

There's a few ways to go about doing this:

    1) DIY - using a template and then submitting your press release off to press release submissions sites, yes it IS possible to use dedicated software to do so like mine (check my sig)
    2) Hire Someone - when you hire a writer they will write your release, edit it, and then submit it on your behalf.

Obviously the DIY is the least expensive option, but it has the greatest learning curve (yes my software dramatically shortens the learning curve )

When you hire someone it costs more, but you don't learn the process yourself so if you ever want to submit another release in the future it's going to significantly cost you...again.

    Best of Luck,

    Justin
