Hello Warriors
The biggest question that any internet marketer always has is how to drive tons of traffic to websites. Definitely there are many ways to do it - SEO forum, social media etc etc. If you start 10 experts you will get different answers. When I started I relied only on SEO. Gradually I shifted to article marketing, social media, forums marketing and paid traffic. I believe each one of us with some experience have similar stories - we start with something and diversify it gradually. So, I am here listing 7 different ways to drive website traffic - SEO, article marketing, forum marketing, blog commenting, guest posting, social media, paid traffic.

I am here requesting you to arrange these 7 methods in the descending order of your preference.

The purpose it to give the newbies a somewhat clear idea on what to choose.

blog commenting, guest posting, forum marketing, social media, SEO.

    My order would be:

    forum marketing
    blog commenting
    article marketing
    SEO
    guest posting
    social media
    paid traffic

Basically because, for new people, you don't have any rank or authority on your own sites. So you need to be focussed on getting links back to your site where audiences for your products DO exist today. You can't advertise on your competitors site... but you can leverage neutral ground of forums, blogs, and niche community sites.

We, for example, do a lot of marketing on Quora. For example:

Posts like that drive a significant amount of qualified leads back to our site... simply by answering the question.

    Thanks,

Article marketing and guest posting are the same thing, really. (Or "guest posting" is one example of "article marketing", I should say). Anyway, I put those two first equal by a very big margin (surprise surprise - that's how I make a living).

And then a huge gap down to blog commenting and forum marketing (which, again, are pretty similar to one another), and paid traffic (can be great, and scalable).

Then SEO a long way behind again, at the end of the list, not only because it's the most precarious but also because it tends to be the worst-quality traffic as well. I happen to get floods of it (because it can be a side-benefit of article marketing, which I've been doing for nearly 4 years), but I'd certainly hate to try to make a living from it. Visitors from search engines, in every niche throughout my entire business, stay less time, view fewer pages, opt-in less often and buy anything far less often than any other kind of traffic I get.

(I left out social media traffic because I have no experience of it and comparatively little interest in it).

It hurts my brain to try to rank these in order, but my favorite is social media marketing as I have partnered up with great people in there for business. I like to interact with people and make new friends.

    Hi,
Based on my somewhat limited experience [lil' less then 2 years],
SEO is the best method I know of BUT it takes a while to get there.
Paid traffic is the best - but as you can you understand from it's name - you have to pay for it. and that's not everyone's cup of tea...
Social media and guest blogging are equally strong tools and after them I will use forum marketing.
The least powerful methods in my opinion are blog comments and article marketing.
Good luck to all the newbies!
    Linda

Blog commenting is pretty similar to forum marketing, really: both rest on the principle of adding value to a page which the people you want to attract are already visiting, and getting clicks on your context-relevant link from it. (And both even have an SEO side-benefit, because the site on which your backlink appears is a relevant one to your own, so the backlink actually has some linkjuice for you, too).
