I have installed but when trying to activate it, the Optimize theme replaces the site theme in Wordpress.

As it should considering OptimizePress, itself, is a WordPress theme.

I thought it was possible to use Optimize Press on a domain and use their templates to create separate sales pages, reviews i.e. new content without the whole site being overwritten with their theme.

Are you saying I have to use new domains for Optimize Press?

For example, I have a site and I already have some content but want to create a sales page on that site using one of Optimize's sales page templates but don't want to replace the rest of the site with the Optimize theme.

Setup your main site on www.yourdomain.com and then create a folder ex: www.yourdomain.com/optimizepress and install Wordpress in this folder. Then upload OP in the themes, activate it and your good to go!
And then I will be able to create individual pages within Optimize Press without overriding the Wordpress theme that already exists on the site?

Just to clear up any confusion you may have you need two separate installations of WordPress.

1 installation on your main domain and
1 installation in a folder you create (Example: Products)

Then if you want to use Optimize Press you need to login to that particular WP installation. (Products)

If you want to edit content on your blog then you will need to login to that Blog.

Let me get this right please.

      1) I will need to install Optimize Press on my domain. That's done.
      2) I ned to create a folder on my main site and then install Optimize Press again in this folder. This will give me a new username and password
      3) I then need to login to this installation? How do I locate the new installation when I try to login

For example, my main site login is www.site.com/wp-admin

What will it be for the new installation? How do I log in. Isn't it possible to log into your main site and create new pages using Optimize Press and not affect the existing site?

No, that is not possible ... because you need to select OptimizePress as the active theme which will cause it to be site wide.

        As for your steps:

        1) I will need to install Optimize Press on my domain. That's done.
As an earlier posts of yours indicates, you do not want OptimizePress to be on your top-level domain (ie., www.yourdomain.com). So there is absolutely no need to install it there.

        2) I ned to create a folder on my main site and then install Optimize Press again in this folder. This will give me a new username and password
Yes, you need to manually create a new folder on your TL domain (ie., www.yourdomain.com/salespages1).

Once you create it, install a FRESH copy of WordPress directly into the folder. After that, you can install OptimizePress and activate it. In doing so, OptimizePress will only be active on that single folder ... not across your entire top-level domain.

        3) I then need to login to this installation? How do I locate the new installation when I try to login
To log into your new Wordpress installation you would go to: www.yourdomain.com/yourfolder/wp-admin ... and it should work as usual.

Hope that clears things up for you and feel free to post back if you need more help.

It is quite simple. Actually you have 2 wordpress installations now as

        1) Your main site which you can access through wwww.site.com/wp-admin
        2) 2nd Wordpress installation at your products say Products Folder which you can access like www.site.com/products/wp-admin. Here you need to put wordpress information of your 2nd installation. Now you can install optimizepress here and you will activate it. In this case it will be activated at www.site.com/products.

        Hope it will help.

You are creating TWO separate installs of Wordpress.

    1. Install Wordpress on your main domain as usual
You will put your regular theme on this install and you login to this Wordpress dashboard at:
    http://whatever.com/wp-admin

    2. Install Wordpress in a sub-folder
You will create any subfolder on your domain such as whatever.com/squeeze and you will then put a second (and totally separate) install of Wordpress there. On this Wordpress you will install the Optimize Press theme. To login to this Wordpress dashboard you would go to:
    http://whatever.com/squeeze/wp-admin

They are TWO separate installs of Wordpress in TWO separate locations. You can only use ONE theme per Wordpress install thus if you want to use your regular theme AND Optimize Press at the same time, you will need the TWO separate Wordpress installs. On the first install will be your regular site as usual. On the second install you will create your Optimize Press squeeze pages and the like.

Actually you have different login information for your 2 installations. So you have to put required login information at required place..........Means if you have set username for 2nd installation say username2 and password say password2 then you need to use that information to login to wordpress installation where you want to use optimizepress theme..
