I find it a bit oxymoron when I see this:

"End Of The World Sale"

Come on, if it's really the end of the world, would I be interested in buying sale stuff since I will not be enjoying it? :p

    That's quite funny. But yes, it does sound oxymoron-ish. Although it is true that creative salesmen actually makes this kind of deals, I don't think they are really serious about the end of the world thing. I believe it's just for humor purposes.

      The advertisers are just playing on people's fear with a combo of some humor inside. Obviously no one cares about buying stuff if the end of the world is coming.

    I don't think their even playing off fear, just making a joke. People also love an excuse for a sale. Some of the local retailers in my hometown seem to constantly find an excuse for a sale related to whatever time of year it is.
