Favorite Domain Registrar?

I used to use Internet.bs a lot and really liked them, but after they got caught supporting illegal online pharmacies, I decided I should switch. I've been using DynaDot now. I like DynaDot, but its more expensive than Internet.bs was.

What do you guys use?

That's a lie. You can go wrong with them very much...

      Try namecheap.com

This forum (and other internet marketing forums) are full of threads started off and contributed to by people who have gone terribly wrong with them, and explained why at some length and in some detail, over situations and circumstances with which other registrars typically don't cause their clients problems and difficulties, Jonathan.

I recognize and accept that your experience of them may have been good (as indeed my own was, when I first started off), but unfortunately you're saying much more than just that, and to advise people "can't go wrong with them", with such a panoply of readily available evidence to the contrary, is really deeply inaccurate. :p

I've been entirely happy since moving from Go Daddy (and a couple of other registrars) to Namecheap.

And possibly 1-and-1, too (also well worth avoiding, in my opinion)? But "anything except Go Daddy" really does seem to be the opinion of a strikingly high proportion of well-established, successful marketers. I think it's perhaps partly because the longer people have "been in the industry", the more likely they are either to have had a "Go Daddy accident" themselves or at least to have been exposed to many of the horror stories.

The reality is that for most people, most of the time, it doesn't matter very much where you register your domain-names, as long as you (a) avoid a couple of dreadful registrars, and (b) never register a domain where you host the site attached to it.

    Another vote for Namecheap.

Apart from anything else, you don't have the constant upselling.

Privacy protection is free for the first year and cheap for subsequent years ($2.88/domain/year)

    NO Daddy.

Go with NameCheap, or even Network Solutions if starting out (they have an ongoing $.75 price deal for the first domain, and you can pay by Paypal).

I was using 1and1 for a while for their $0.99 domains and free whois privacy but they are pretty terrible, it once took a week before I was able to use a domain I bought from them, namecheap is the best in my opinion, best price and free whois privacy also very easy to use.

So are hundreds (thousands?) of us, here ... but that's mostly as a host, rather than as a registrar. Hosting is their forte, after all. I'm not for a moment suggesting they're a bad registrar. Using them (so happily) as a host, I'm obviously not going to use them as a registrar as well: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7437169

While GoDaddy might be cheaper (sometimes) for registering a domain, I'm more than happy to pay a little bit more with NameCheap so that I have a good clean, easy to use interface to manage all my domains.

What do you expect to happen to internetbs.net now? How did they support those pharmacies? I have 4 domains with them, and I certainly don't want to loose any.

Another suggestion for domain registration would be netim.com - if you ever need an European domain. It's a French company that provides them all (of course, there are few of them which are allowed only to the residents)

Been using Godaddy for years and never had any issues!

Tried NameCheap.com and it was good too, but Godaddy seem to be where it is at.

I also tried 1and1.com and that was horrible, when I tried to point my HostGator nameservers to my domain that was registered on 1and1 it kept giving me an error, so I would stay away from 1and1.

1and1 support wasn't good either when it came down to web hosting, it seems like they really didn't know what they was doing.

      My vote is with Godaddy!

BUT I WOULD NEVER HOST ANY WEBSITE WITH GODADDY LOL! JUST PURCHASE DOMAINS FROM THEM.

    • Namecheap for sure. The free privacy add-on is nice. Easy domain management too, all of them in a list, simple to print out. Their live chat has always been available when I had a question and been very helpful.

Yeah I forgot to mention it, I actually have a couple domains on name cheap as well. Looks like no one can match Internet.bs on price, but maybe it was only cheap because they carried out some shady business practices (not that an extra buck or two on domain names is really meaningful.).

Haha looks like we have a little bit of disagreement about GoDaddy's domains.

Internetbs.net is cheaper because their business is registered in a tax haven.

If you know anything about their business practices being shady, please tell us what did they do. What relationship did they have with those online pharmacies? I would really like to know.

CrazyDomains is also a great domain provider. Although it takes quite a while to get them registered, their customer service and their community is great. Never had trouble with them.
