How do you stop getting screwed by Fiverr sellers?

Quality logo design is a lot more expensive than $5. You should simply go somewhere else, like freelancer.com for example. Expect to pay somewhere between 50 to 100 dollars. And this is still very cheap, as regular design companies take thousands.

I had that issue too.

I waited a week and had to contact fiverr. The bad thing, once you get a refund, you can't leave feedback so others won't know.

Grrrr, well that's annoying. I pushed it over to dispute today so we shall see what happens. It's not a huge deal for me with the logo design, but come on people, be honest with what you can and cannot do on time. Sheesh.

You might want to check with some of his earlier customers, pm them and check on the quality and timely delivery. See if the seller has the same list of repeated buyers. Another thing is to evaluate the feedback left by customer and try to understand if they are genuine feedbacks or just fluffs. Having said all these, you might still end up with someone who doesn't deliver what is required. Unfortunately, that is how fiverr works.

Let me see if I get it right...

- the guy is doing a logo for 5 bucks
- he is good
- he is one day delayed over delivery date

and you think it is a tragedy?

Ok... some basic info for you... to make high quality logos is so hard that people go to university for 5 years to get it right.

To do a logo right, the designer needs to know a lot about theory of color, needs to research your market, needs to be able to draw if necessary.

I did pretty much everything as outsourcer in the business in my time, except for two things: programming and logos.

- The first one because to program with lil ones around is kind of complicated, so I stopped programming altogether (yes, I know how to do it).

- The second one because even when I do know the theory I was not good enough to implement my ideas for my own standards.

Said that... if you want a high quality logo delivered in time, go and pay the standard price. I think you can find some decent jobs for $150/$200.

He did tell you if you could wait. Whne someone asks you if you can wait, you say "yes" or "no". If you say yes, you wait. If you say No, he refunds. Simple.

Now what did you say? Because if you said Yes, you need o let the guy work. He is probably way behind schedule, or have been sick. To get sick happens a lot to creative people when they overdo it.

Fiverr will automatically assume you got your work, so ask for refund before 2days end.

I prefer hiring people from usa, uk and west plus filipinos but people from India, east europe have a different work ethics- doggie deals :confused:

He told me to wait for 12 hours and that he was going to take a test at a university, then he would deliver. At 9 am EST yesterday.

With collage students you can get lucky or not. This is just something to get some pocket money meantime.

well, you can only do what you can do. If you can´t wait, then ask for a refund. At this time of the year he might go home and don´t do anything until the new year.

I know it is difficult to be patient. I tend to agree with this comment. I've had a situation where someone found a product of mine which i thought was long gone (due to a crash) and I wasn't prepared to fulfill the order. I communicated with my buyer and most of the time if you do it right people understand. I've even gotten more orders from communicating with my buyers.

I am not saying he did it right I'm just saying he did get back to you and ask you to wait.
If he's from another country communication is sometimes tough.

Just hang in there you're in position for a favor even just run with it if you can.

I have tried to share info like this with people over the years and just yesterday I tried to help someone turn around a difficult situation.

They refused to try it and their situation came to hault instead.

That's stoopid. We've got to learn to turn around bad situations we can't get away they will always be.

Did you ask him to try to hurry as you would like to have it soon? If so I apologize.

So if the seller marks as delivered you can't file a dispute after 2 days, is that how it works? I have a seller who marked it as delivered, but is saying due to a 'bug' he hasn't been able to upload the logo. Seems like a scam! So I should mark a dispute before the 2 days are over?

You pay for what you get so I really don't use fiverr, I never had any luck anyways but using fiverr gigs is taking a big risk, 90% of the gigs there are bad. I always thought logo design gigs were safe but guess not...

I am ruthless as a client on fivver. I stiff providers all the time if the work is not good. If they promise good stuff and it isn't, why say, "well what did I expect for $5". No, I say, stiff em and move on. So refuse payment and go back to the well. Hold them to their word, it is not your problem.

Sorry to hear that. Personally I would report it and let them know before it gets to late. Try contacting the seller again and if nothing happens just contact Fiverr admin and get it cleared up!

Taking an exam. HA! Now, that is one I haven't heard yet.

It doesn't matter how many, or who I hire from which broker site. Usually (and by that I mean always) the excuses are related to an extremely ill family member. And they get extremely creative. How can you get mad at them??? Their aunt is on life support?!

If you are really in need of a logo...mission critical like...don't hire somebody out of your sight.

BUT, another trick in fiverr is make it 10'er or 15'er (still cheap) and hire a few of them so your chances are better of actually getting at least one of them, on time, and something you may actually like.

Oh, and keep your expectations....ohhhhhh.... somewhere down around five bucks. Then you won't be disappointed.

Believe it or not, you can get better logos at fiverr for $5 than at sites with pros. Yeah, where you can pay $400 or more. I paid $350 for a logo on a site with a big name. Well, cannot use it as it was ripped from another site on the internet and the bad thing is that the money is gone.

Fiverr will refund your money. That is why I keep on using em. Still, look at the person's work before you buy a gig. Do you want that style of a logo? Most artist do logos on fiverr to gain exposure. It is def not for the money. Like you get only $3.92 via pay pal - starvation wages.

I've used fiverr and I haven't been scammed. I've had good experiences and not so good experiences.

I will say this, though - I don't give a care if the freelancer is earning $5 or $500 - a delivery date should be met. Period. If they don't take their work seriously because they're only earning about $4 (e.g. on Fiverr), then don't post gigs on Fiverr.

OP - check out Great American Logos...they have a website and also sell deals on ebay and I've used them recently. Great work and good communication skills (something seriously lacking on Fiverr).

I put absolutely no faith in Fiverr feedback. A lot of it seems to be bogus. You can find people who do terrible graphic design work with 100% positive feedback and then people who do really good work who have only one or two feedback.

An old thread but still relevant as I had the same issue, and you can see how little sellers care from this discussion I initiated: Don't ever trust ratings (nor rely on Fiverr support) - Page 1 | Fiverr Forum

I'm a little surprised they care so little, when this type of issue will drive many buyers away from the site. The system is very much on the side of the sellers, they can simply cancel a gig and never receive negative feedback, quite a scam some of them have going on as I've discovered.

You get what you pay for @Fiverr.

As far as I hear, it's possible to remove bad reviews if you are a top seller, I don't know how, but I see users with 10k possitive reviews which is illogical.

If you want a cheap logo, fiverr works, but you have to be patient. Otherwise prepare $100-150 for high quality work.

I find that most Fiverr buyers are like bots. And they don't even know if the work is well done, they will leave positive review anyway. That's why you have crappy sellers on Fiverr with much positive reviews...

In the end she was doing everything she could to delay delivering another day and another day, I had to cancel the order and find someone else.

These sellers on Fiverr don't respect your time. When they have many orders they don't want to lose money, so they make everyone wait and wait...

They should stop accepting orders if they cannot handle them, but they are afraid to lose money. They prefer to torture their customers.

I do think that good communication is one of the easiest ways to keep clients happy. That said, my designer wouldn't even consider a logo design for less than $500. if you're paying $5 your expectations for quality and customer service should be pretty low.

It seems a bit of a stretch to call that "getting screwed." Poor service? Sure. If he delivered unoriginal, copyrighted content, that'd be a different story. If he sent a virus along with the graphic... screwed.

Sure, selling services for "only $5" shouldn't be an excuse to provide sub-par service... but, I've heard much worse fiverr horror stories. I can't imagine filing a dispute over a $5 service being a day or two late. Was it advertised as an "express gig?"

The real problem lies in the largely worthless reviews on fiverr. Lots of sellers will offer bonuses or free services to buyers who leave them positive reviews. They inform the buyer of this, and the buyer leaves a glowing review (regardless of actual quality of the gig) in their quest for more cheap/free stuff. If someone gets a refund, they can't leave a review. It seems it'd be helpful for buyers to know why other buyers requested a refund.

Short answer: Move away from Fiverr as most of the loyal customers are doing because now the majority of providers there are newbies trying to make easy money. Fiverr is not what it used to be. I now use SEOClerks. I think presently it is the most reliable outsourcing site.

Fiver is a great place for small services.. There are many professionals setting on fiver but they ask more than $5 to work with extra gig.. which sometime don't attract the buyer.. so buyer goes with the cheaper solution and they are in bad hands.

Remember for sure website you can expect much for $5 service.. it will always something missing. try finding professional graphic designer.

Today I sent a notice to the Gig seller with 700+ positives. I ordered a WP theme redesign from him for 50$.

One notice:
I said that I want my download button to be "attractive and bigger", instead you're providing me with un-attractive, same-sized, pale, CSS generate buttons. Today, after reading some CSS tutorials I learned that making an attractive button from rollover images is very easy with CSS. You don't have to change the whole template, instead they can be inserted into posts manually.

Also you managed to remove simple "Posted in" line, after my 2nd complaint. Even though, in the picture that I sent you, before ordering gigs, it is very clear how I wanted it to look like. Also my 1st complaint was very clear, just you didn't read it carefully.

Deat sir, in your portfolio I can see that you are also a graphical designer, but if you can't be more creative than this and can't fully commit to my project, be free to tell me. So we can ask for a partial refund.

If it requires quality work I don't go to Fiverr, simple as that.

I've actually bought a logo there in the past, and just like you mention the person had many positive reviews but the logo he produced looked like a little childs drawing and I've could have done better myself with less work than dealing with him.

I guess there are some good providers there as well but that's my experience.

I consider fiverr sellers like freelancers. Sometimes they are great, and sometimes they are terrible. I Order from fiverr a lot, so I have a list of a few good sellers I can trust to do a good job. I usually order the same things again, such as SEO and wordpress stuff. I have a guy I buy from every time I need one of those gigs.
