[Watch] American Idol + X Factor and earn $1000s

Am a fan of popular Tv shows, and i used to watch them for enjoyment and till an idea clicked Here is how I make money from popular TV shows like American Idol and USA/UK X Factor. I have organised this in two methods;

Method A: Domain Flipping
Step 1; Watch the auditions of the show and identify contestants that are killing it, the ones everbody cheers.

Step 2;Register their names domain name, ie. contestant.com, contestantofficial.com

Step 3; Before the end of the show people will contant you to buy these domain names.
I get offers between £500- £4000 per domain. over the 2 years i have made
over £12,000 from this method alone.

Method B: Sell Affiliate products eg. Amazon using Twitter and Facebook

Step 1; Watch the show from the start and create twitter and facebook accounts for these contestants. Engage with fans tweet & status updates.

Step 2; Watch the fans come in 1000s. With 5 twitter accounts I get upto 100,000 twitter followers by the end of the show.

NOTE ! Before the show goes live change usernames to fan club. eg. @contestant_fanclub. because now they are famous and twitter/ facebook can tell the real person but as a fan account thats ok.

Step 3; Selling your Affiliate products. This is the best part. During the final show, the winner's single is released on Amazon. Plus charity single, Simon Cowell biography, lots of x factor/ American idol products on Amazon.

Now, with over 100,000 twitter followers; this is highly targeted active traffic people , lots of affiliate checks!

It gets better, after the show is over I promote CPA OFFERS like mysupermarket, which pays £3 per lead. I earned over £20,000 in the past year from this second method.

There you go, get creative and internet marketing can be easy!
Hmmm, I should create a WSO about this, watch this space...

Yes, it is a way to make money but it is not what people would consider ethical.

Actually in the US it is against the law:

I don't think it's unethical because you are not doing something that's in your best interest and is harmful to someone else or to the society in general.

All we are doing with this technique is forecasting who will be next superstar and are investing in their names (domain names).

And as far as illegal goes I don't think there will be any problem because these are ordinary people. We are not trying to register tomcruise.com.

These are rising stars and I don't think there will be any problem and any world can start a fan club for any celebrity and just meet like minded people on any social media site...

So let me get this right. You're creating Twitter accounts in the name of popular contestants on the shows and leading people to believe you're that person, then changing the name to indicate the account is a fan club after the fact? I'd imagine you could get yourself in quite a bit of trouble if you said or did something that negatively impacted the contestant while you were pretending to be them.

I like about domain flipping idea. I definitely will use that idea soon.

BTW, to make yourself save, better use fanclub for twitter/facebook fanpage name.

@miklanderson2 you can make the twitter/fb fan accounts from start to finish. And all you tweet about is what is happening on the show as they watch it, no personal tweets about the contestants.

@hpgoodboy cybersquatting affects companies but when it comes to peoples' names, there will be 1000s of people on the planet with your name.

      Sue,

Interesting post. I actually knew Carly Rose's dad from elementary school. Should've done a page. She is amazing!

Anyway, in terms of your point A, do you mean the domain name would have the person's name ? Wouldn't that create a problem legally? I could see doing something like carlyroserocks but wasn't clear on what you were saying. You would have the name and then official?

For point B, you can change the name on the twitter/fb pages? I don't do much with this so wasn't sure what you mean.

  • Interesting technique. Although it is a little bit unorthodox, it looks like a promising way. One question though, won't that lead into a legal trouble sometime in the future?

      Sexy Sue

Very interesting concept and thanks for sharing.

So which names did you sell to make £12,000 ?

My other question, how do you find time to watch these shows, post tweets and still have time to post these great IDEAS at WF. Your time management skills MUST be outstanding.

      Thanks

Nice idea, but can you clarify on the legal issue of registering someones name as a domain.

At what point in the show did you decide when you choose a contestents name? For example, in X Factor did you register a name from a contestant at boot camp who you thought would make it to the live shows or did you wait until the contestents for the live shows were already chosen?

Sue, method B is far more profitable and less tiresome with any IP or © DRS fillings being issued!

Can vouch that this works 100% as we have been doing it for the last 13 years for the "potential winners!" we even wrote a how to guide for students to use to learn how to enlarge the potential IM base in "Reality" programs to cover loads of niches it works in

It is great when someone gets into the American Idol last 12, bearing in mind we register 100's of names way before that... and they go viral!

CPA/CPC offers also keep going on the fansites for years after they get dropped by the record companies!

When you say you register hundereds of names, do you focus more on Facebook or Twitter? Which converts better for method B.

Also, what sort of names get the most followers? Do you use the exact name of the contestent or add a specific word to it?

Neither, there are far more higher converting locations, both on and off line, that put FB & T crap-o-la links to shame!

There are many ways to build a recurring and 100% legit cash machine website within the "Music" marketplaces.

As for the actual "names" sometimes it is best to stick to simple methods, so EMD + "niche" is the best long term way to build real trust, with real fans!

So in answer to your reply Cooler, research and more research is the key
