How Do You Use GEO Targeting Within Your Online Business?

I am doing a bit of research on GEO targeting.

Can you tell me how you use GEO targeting within your business or affiliate business?

I appreciate that GEO targeting is included within some CPA networks, but I wanted to find out where else it is being used?

Or is there an area within your marketing where you would like to use it but because the service does not exist you have a gap in your marketing abilities.

Thanks in advance for your feedback...

The marketing technique known as “geotargeting” puts a business in front of a very specific audience. With geotargeting, a home services business is able to deliver advertising to a precise area.

Yes, but how do you use it, do you use it with short links pointing at affiliate offers or do you use it directly from your website for example?

Well, it's a very specific form of marketing. For example, if I run a Chinese restaurant in Seminole, Florida, there are two different ways I can target area-specific customers:

    1. Offline Marketing
    2. Online Marketing

Offline Marketing activities will include targeting local community centers, local newspapers, billboards, colleges etc. This includes distributing flyers, making cold calls and meeting people at public place.

Online Marketing has to be very specific. In order to reach the target customers, I first need to carve out an effective Local Search Marketing Plan. This will include targeting FourSquare, Yelp, Google Places, HotFrog and other business listing directories. Then comes working on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You need to target local groups and pages and start communicating with the prospects.
You can also try email marketing if you somehow manage to get the list of local people (sending unsolicited mails is a crime in some parts of the world)

There are several other things GEO targeting involves.

By the way, Pinterest, So.cl, Path and Instagram are also the places where you can engage people into communication.

You can also work it well inversely, Scraping to grab geo-targeted leads and implement all the strategies above... May be easier in some respects...
