No wonder why you don't make any money...

Today,

I was reading a blog post and in the comment, an IM newbie was complaining and saying that he wasn't making a dime... and that mentoring and program were to expensive...

He let his site url on the blog and I decided to click on the link and... the link was broken.

It just happen again on the WF. I was reading a post, and when I clicked on his sig file to see what his site looks like... link broken.

If you can't even type your url correctly, how are you going to make money?

What should newbies take from this post?

1. Get the basic rights
2. Complaining will not get you anywhere
3. The right coach will help you grow your business (yes, it's a real business)

Best,

Franck

The first thing you should always check when promoting a product or website is that your links take people where they should and they are not broken....

Broken link?... At least they attempted to add one to a post that had a hit of coherent English that you could actually comprehend.

    Hi,

Yes, Internet Marketing is a lot of details to check. The links are a important one. People don't check their link sometime.

    Hi Frank,

LOL - I'm guilty of forgetting to check links from time to time - and forgetting to change PayPal IPN certificates when they expire (which leads to much head scratching trying to figure out why sales have dried up).

    A system... I need a system...

to check your links, I think a VA is your best option... you don't want to do this yourself.

I check my links every other day and sometimes actually purchase my own products to check that everything is working. It's worth the bit of commission.

I wouldn't make the correlation so fast. I mean, I see your point. But there are a billion little actions we do in this sorts of businesses. A miss-spelling or a broken link on their own are hardly representative.

I've seen some of the highest earners send me emails with broken links, miss-spellings and my favorite.... [name ] the server is on fire after our launch... I.e. they got the tagging wrong, so it says [name ] instead of my name, lol.

Mistakes do happen, but the important part is actually knowing where you went wrong and learning not to make those kinds of mistakes again. Having broken links to your site is obviously not helping him make any money, but like was said above "complaining will not get you anywhere". I used to be in $55,000 debt from bad choices and business decisions, but I never complained or felt sorry for myself, i figured out what i was doing badly and I fixed it. I believe any successful person would have to have a lot of perseverance and commitment. Complaining will get you nowhere, only action will make success.

Don't be so hard on the newbie. Trying to figure out how to create a link isn't as easy as veteran marketers might think. Sometimes the program you are promoting leaves you high and dry and the link goes nowhere.

Contact the person some other way if possible and alert him that his link is broken. If he is trying to promote several products, he/she is probably too confused to know to even check the link. But, point well taken and I am off to check links.

I'm 100% agree to Aboutalhah, most of the newbie just fail because of their lack of strong control over the basics.

    Hey Frank,

    thank for sharing that insight.

I had something similar happen to me. Only I was the joke.
I have created my sig file right and couple days later found
out that the moderators deleted it.

It said "Please check the sig file rules" for 7 days... hehehehe

Imagine how many leads were lost

But that's cool, we all learn from mistakes.

Marketing involves paying attention to details. You have to double-check everything--especially every link that you send out--before you send it. Good luck!

I have clicked on some links on WF that turned out to be broken. Why wouldn't someone double check this just to be sure? Who knows,it might be costing them a conversion.

I see this all the time with folks that come to me for help with their online ventures. Don't try to build a business without spending money.

Yes Open-Source software is usually free, but unless you want to spend the time learning it you'll have to pay someone to put it up. Just because you have a copy of photoshop doesn't mean you know how to use it.

Pay for quality tools and support for your business if you want to succeed. You're only going to get out of it what you put into it.
