What skills can you quickly learn to offer as a service to make money with?

I'm asking this because usually on the "If your desperate" thread you see people say the best way to make some cash if your in a jam is to offer a service, but what if the person don't have any skills to offer.... What are some skills that you can learn easily and offer as a service? I'm not talking about learning overnight but a skill that isn't that hard to learn....

Also which services are in demand at the moment? What services are always in demand regardless ?

You can try custom videos using puppets. I know it sounds funny but puppets don't take much skill and there is a huge demand for them.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can write down everything you know and sort them into 'expert' and 'noob' categories. Offer to coach people in the categories where you are an 'expert'
Coaching can be done via Skype.

Offer your services at Fiverr. There are ways to get more than $5 per job. I have gotten $100 per order at Fiverr through extras and bonuses I offer. As long as you stick to it and provide real value, you should be okay.

Content writing isn't too demanding. At the lower price ranges, buyers won't expect too
much. It looks like you're a native english speaker, so that gives you a leg up.

Or the puppets... who doesn't love puppets, lol.:p

Exactly.lol. It doesn't take much training and there's a lot of demand for it. I thought it was hilarious at first until I ordered some puppet videos and put it on some blogs in the content network I own. Great way to add a little humor and a personal touch to brand building.

There are basically two things that will determine the marketability of any given skill.

        1. Complex and/or rare skillset required. You've already done well to rule that out if you don't already have the skills.

        2. Work is boring/repetitive/tedious. In other words, doing things that other people are willing to pay someone to do rather than do it themselves.

Things like setting up reasonably secure blogs (going beyond the cookie cutter Fantastico install), building keyword lists, building lists of niche blogs, posting content, etc. are all tasks which aren't hard to learn but for which people will pay someone to avoid doing it themselves.

Don't let the low prices scare you off. There's always space for newcomers. To stand apart from the competition, you only need to provide a good service and go the extra mile. The more the merrier. Everybody has their specific strong points. Variety and diversity are essential to any economy.

Gardening and cleaning are the most in demand services I know. Put a notice in the window of your local shop offering cleaning services, gardening services, shopping and odd job services. You'll soon have customers.

A friend of mine set up a gardening service a few years ago before leaving her job. Within just a few weeks she had enough clients to be working 6 days a week. She never looked back and she didn't know a plant from a weed when she started.

She had minimal start up costs as she started by using her clients' own tools. She sold her car and bought a small van.

Once you've got a steady income you can start working on building your online earnings.

Another thing you can do which doesn't take much training or skill is to find BUYERS for stuff on Fiverr. You find people who are willing to pay $50 for a logo. You buy the logo for $5 and you keep the difference.

I don't suggest webmaster/marketer forums for this since people already know about Fiverr. There are a lot of user forums or consumer forums that might be a better fit for this type of arbitrage. You can also try local classified ads sites.

It takes some time for payment to clear. I solve that problem by selling daily and offering many different gigs. Your money clears in daily waves if you do this.

You can look into following services :-

    1. Wordpress site creation
    2. SEO/Link Building
    3. Keyword research

There are whole lot of others, but these are few I can think off the top of my head.

That's actually a good idea. It's missing two key steps. I think I can find the labor those two steps. Brilliant idea. Should make for an interesting experiment.

    Hi there

I think in this video based world that if you learnt a few video making skills you would find it fun not only for personal life, but also a valuable skill to sell profitably.

The challenge to get over once you start learning though is when you feel ready enough to start selling your services.
Just remember that probably after a month of dedicated learning you will know more than most do and there will be an audience for your services at the right price.

There will still be people better than you out there that can create better videos / articles etc, but then your price should reflect that.

So thats my 2 cents - and videos aren't as heard to create as many believe!

    Good luck!

The way to overcome 'technically better' videos is to SELL yourself. Sell your PERSONALITY. Your personal unique take. That's why some video sellers at Fiverr do quite well. I've ordered quite a bit in the past from people who don't really make technically superb videos but their personalities shine out and that's why they make $$$.

      Branding and personality win out.

    A-Z List of Careers

You are again one of those who has an aim but no target. You cannot hit your aim unless you set a target. What is easier for others, doesn't mean it will be EASY for you. Tom Cruise is a successful actor nowadays, doesn't mean everyone will try to get into acting, since HE found success there.

Why is everyone sticking to offering online services when there are always people willing to pay others to do low skill things that they are unwilling to do themselves?

Things like Lawn Mowing, Car Detailing, Gutter Cleaning, Power Washing, Cleaning and sealing wood decks... all of these and more are in big demand and can be marketed via hand delivered flyers or door hangers.

If you really need to generate a reliable steady income quickly... get off of your butts and offer a real service to your local market instead of trying to do everything while hiding behind your PC.

You just may be surprised at the results you can produce when you dare to venture into the real world.

      Cheers,

Web design for offline business owners. They have no idea of how to make a website... yet alone wrap their heads around "internet marketing".

Search through the main categories of Fiverr. Besides the default "Recommended" view, check out the "High Rating" view, too.

Look at gigs with hundreds to thousands of purchases to get a sense of what gigs may be in more frequent demand. (These are often promotional services).

    Which ones can you do?
Which ones can you do in under 15 minutes?
Which ones can you do in a unique way?
Which ones can act as loss leaders for higher-priced services in "Gig extras?"

    And one more:

What is unique about you that you could blend into a product or service with unique value?

There are lots of cool ideas on there but start with the buyer action so you can fill a demand.

I'd say article writing is one of the easiest if you have the ability to write naturally. When I used to do it, it was in demand too.

The only problem is that it's rather tedious and that prices have been pushed so low that quality writers are almost forced out of the market.

If you've got the ability to really knuckle down and grind, you should be able to make money from article writing today. You can build a portfolio in a couple of hours.
