hulu .. how can one get rights or duplicate video site?

I have looked at hulu, crackle and Netflix and they sell videos and you can download the videos to your computer or device. How can someone get into this market legally? I know you are competing with the big boys but I curious about copyright and who gets paid,

Thanks

Well, I believe they pay tons of money to license the content, as in millions.

Yes, they do pay millions but you don't have to.

There was a site that has online video franchising. Kind of like you owning a blockbuster franchise online (of course that was not the name). I don't recall the name of the site that was offering this, it was about 1.5 years ago when I saw it.

Basically you would own a video store but it's all online, not brick and mortar.

If you focused your search in that area I'm sure you could find it.

If you really wanted to start a streaming site, you could start with public domain content.

Besides that, you need big pockets to license the content or able to partner with someone who owns licenses.

Netflix is going to be paying $350 million per year to Disney to license their content.
Netflix and Amazon each pay over $100 million per year to Epix for their content about 3,000 titles.
Netflix pays about $2 billion total in licensing fees.

That is just the licensing fees. You still have network and storage costs to deal with.

Hulu is owned by the networks.

How many billions do you have available?
