Kindle Authors - Are You Desperately Seeking A Great Last Minute Christmas Present?

I've just put up my first piece of fiction on Kindle.

I did the cover myself using ecover software and my young son "helped" me (Nooooooo! Don't delete that!!!).

In honour of his contribution, I named him as the illustrator of the book. He was so excited to see his name on the internet ("Look, there's Daddy's name and there's my name").

Then he made me write down the link so he could show his teacher and classmates in his next computer lesson.

That got me thinking.

I've seen a few bestselling authors doing a charity auction of character names for their book. So, for example, you make a successful bid of $10,000 and you become the hero, $5,000 for a minor character, etc. People are paying a lot of money to be associated with an author!

So, if you are desperate for a great last minute Christmas gift and you haven't filled in the illustrator, contributors etc on your book page . . .

Merry Christmas,

Martin

Great idea. Of course I dedicate my books to my kids, and I do sometimes use them as inspiration for the characters (but don't use their names). But I never really thought about having them contribute to the production of the book - the cover or whatever - and then putting their name on the book. They would LOVE that! I'm totally doing this.

I hope you gave him an affiliate link?

To save you some time I informed your local tax office that you've put the boy to work.

I'm also considering who I should contact about the heinous crime of putting an innocent person's name to your artwork.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

That I did. Unfortunately, I cloaked it so when you write it out on a piece of paper . . .
