How to promote my email list?

Hello,

I have started two days ago to have an email list with aweber and got already 57 subscribers. I think the list will daily get 10-30 new subscribers.

Well I am a newby in email marketing. I am sure the list will go on raising, but I don't know how to promote, when to start to promote, what to promote. Could you give me some advices?

The subscribers are comming from my site, which the people has to sign up to get the information they want to know. My site itself has not realy a niche. The people just sign up to the email list to get an information. Is it still possible to make any money out of it?

I am sure in a year there will be subscribers over 4k-5k... But is it possible to make any money of that?

Thanks in advance.

Do you really want a huge list of random subscribers that have nothing in common?

My thought is that this type of list will be very hard to monetize.

What are you going to offer them?

In all my experience, having lots of subscribers that are not passionate for a particular niche is something akin to closing your eyes and firing a shot in the air hoping to hit a bird. What are the chances?

I am new to email marketing and I have started this way. I have read that some people make PPC/PPV to get subscribers and some of them could make some money out of it. I don't talk making PPC/PPV to a site with lots of content and niche, where they sign up because they are interested, I am talking about PPC/PPV to a landing page which promises something in return of signing up. Between those leads and mine what are the difference? I guess it's the same, the difference would be that I don't pay for it.

When there are over 5k birds, don't you think you can hit one, or even two with one shot?

What exactly do you mean with random stuff? Well, you can say they are all signing up for one information, which can give them access to different stuff.

Poll your list. Let your subscribers tell you how you can help them.

In my opinion, it is better if you have list of subscriber in one niche only, not random niches becoz it is easier to target affiliate products to promote to them..

Promote to your own list members. Set up a freebie system where they have to recommend you to their friends to get the freebie.

for people to sign up to your newsletter you must have something to provide them with in some certain niche.

there must be something that gave to them or you promise to give them after they sign up.

    so what's that product?

to make most of the profit promote something that's related to that product you give them during sign up.

Wait until you have 1000 subscribers to start promoting your offers

Always pick a narrow niche. Dont go broad

It really depends what they signed up for, right?

if the signed up for a freebie about IM, then that's what you're
    going to promote, makes sense?

    Sure it is!

I think you can make money off your list, but you don't want to wait a year to re-engage with them because by then they will probably forget who you are and how you got their email.

Is your list really just random people signing up? There must be a broad focus that you could start with.

Some more info on why they are opting in and what the traffic source is that they are getting to your site would really help us to help you.

The source of the traffic is from another websites. They sign up to get a link they want to visit.

Maybe this helps: I can see on which link of my sites they signed up, so they are interested in that stuff and want to get a link about it. Cell phones ringing, nokia games, the another one about mozart cd..

Then I would have to so send to everyone different emails, because everyone signs up for different interests... Is that possible to pick up we say 100 offers for different people? Is it possible to split the list in aweber to groups?

How and what should I promote when every comes with different interests?

First if you are saying that they are signing up from different sites then just make different optin forms for each site and have a separate list for each site on aweber.

You can have a different optin form on each site you own in aweber.

This is a must your list needs to be targeted

By having your list seperate for each site you can than make the email sequences targeted for each site

How and what should I promote when every comes with different interests?

I would not recommend this... it would be a waste of time in my opinion

If you have to keep everybody on the same general list, then you need to filter the list...

but first before I get into that, lets see if you can just add separate aweber forms to each site you have

        Let me know

My subscribers is actually 163. So not much left for 1000, I guess in max 2-3 month I will have 1000 subscribers, but how I said the question is what to do.

I heard that from lot of people. I also heart from some who also has success without having a relationship and without giving away free stuff at first.

@spyder, I don't think it's possible to make different optins for different sites, because I don't know from where they are comming and I don't advertise on sites, so that I know where they come from. People come to my site from over thousands websites with different interests. And my site isn't splitted in catogeries, so that I could make for each catogery an optin box. You can access my site example with mysite.com/cellphonering or mysite.com/anythingyouwanthere

So how will you make for that different optins? Thats not possible... All get to the same landing page and you cannot control it..

I dont know if I can split myself up the list. Is that possible with aweber?

When I see many people come with mysite.com/cellphones or something related which has to do with cellphone, could I add them to another list? This would be a little stressed, but I guess I only could this way split the list.

Focus on one niche to expand some of it is not recommended ,
It is very important to create a relationship between you and them do not sell them right before you open relationship with them.

whatever page they went to ("mysite.com/cellphonering") can prepopulate your opt-in form with an additional field that is hidden, identifying which page/topic they were interested in ("cellphonering"), which will be added as an additional field in aweber.

This will let you filter your list when you send out emails.
