How do I find proper keywords for my blog?

I own a blog I recently started it and I am posting some quality articles. Not much concerning on SEO in the articles but I want to concern on the whole blog. I wanted to know how do I find out what keywords for my blog. It is just a current events opinion blog.

      When you use keywords, I'd also recommend going to advanced filter/options and specifying what geographic regions you want your search to be in. Also, it will help if you select "exact" match types, rather than broad. Additionally, when you see keywords you like - you can filter results to show more that are similar. The higher the CPC is for a keyword - the more valuable people think it is. You may wish to aim for something with a decent search volume (1,000 plus), a fairly high CPC, but medium or low competition.

        I know about the keyword tool, but I don't know how to use it. I mean what do I actually search in it?

          You search your keywords in it..
          Whats your blog about, what niche is it about?
          You will need to look for profitable keywords in your niche.

          Also, I hope you know how to use those keywords tool, if no, then please refer to youtube, there are some very good tutorials on how to use good keywords tool or market samurai.

            I don't know what my keywords are. That's what I want to know. Then what can I search?

      Do a proper keyword research in Google Keywords Tool as suggested above but I will also advise you to use Market Samurai to analyse keywords more; there is a free version of Market Samurai available.

    What you really want to do is figure out

    1. What is the objective of your blog...what do you want it to do for you? Are you monetizing it at all? Are you hoping to capture a certain category of reader?

    2. Assuming you can answer #1, your next question is totally around how to match your ideal reader/subscriber/customer with the product or service you will sell or advertise on your blog. Let's say your blog covers the topic of cooking, you would then want to identify a specific category of consumer interested in consumer (let's say busy Mom's or diabetics, gluten free seekers, etc...) - this becomes your target audience. Further, let's assume you have a way to monetize that niche (cookbook that you resell as an affiliate, membership site you promote, ads you sell to others who want to target your audience, etc...) then your next step will be to zip over to Google Keyword Tool and find the various keyword phrases that rank around your particular sub-topic. An example may be Gluten Free Recipes, Gluten Free Diet, Diabetic Cookbook, etc...

    As you can see, the way you optimize your blog has to do with your ultimate objective - what market and specific desire you are targeting.

    @JbSmith - I am running a news blog, you can check "in the rocket dot com" its more like I just select a news and write my opinion on it. That's the problem, now I am not specific to anything, I am not specific to cooking or tech or anything. I write what running around me.

    and I think not much people search for news blogs or anything like that, my blog can searched with each article posted on blog. So, I am confused with my keywords or niche of my whole blog.

      So you aren't really running a news blog. You are running an op/ed blog (opinion/editorial). If you cover that wide a range of topics, keyword tools aren't going to help you.

      If you want to know what keywords Google thinks your site is about right now, go to the keyword tool and put your blog's url in the field provided. You might be surprised. You may have a theme and not recognize it.

      You can also enter the addresses (one at a time) of blogs similar to yours, or that you would like to emulate.

      One more thing to think about... Opinion blogs tend to sink or swim less on the keywords and more on the personality of the blogger.

      Political blogs, regardless of what they claim, tend to skew to a political point of view (conservative, liberal). Food blogs tend to focus on what the blogger is interested in (certain styles of cooking, certain ingredients). They seldom exist in a vacuum, so they draw their audience from the personality of the blogger. Decide who you want to be on your blog, and be that person unabashedly. Some will love you and some will hate you. Try to please everybody, and everybody will ignore you.

    Look at your competitors and use keyword discovery tools to figure out what they rank for and look for 'weak spots' in their keyword coverage. You might get into a sweet spot of low competition but decent volume kws.

    Check out Google keywords tool or Market Samurai. In these applications, you can find many keywords that will suit your ability and capacity as blogger and marketer. Within these application, you are able to view the competition for each keyword and the amount of traffic you can drive per keyword.

    But if you don't have time for such SEO stuff, just put yourself in the shoes of the reader.

    I would say google keyword tool, it is mostly a lot of work and time consuming but the results are impressive. I would say to have to work hard to get lazy...so work hard on trial and error for your keyword research and you will see the results upon using them.

    First thing you have to understand your audience. Then brainstorm for your keywords by yourself for sometime. Be creative, but be choosy. Try not to target keyword phrases that are too competitive at the first time. Use the boss tool here -
