I keep reading people mention a mentor. What is it exactly? I'm assuming its one member helping another for a long period of time on IMing? Is this right?

I'm sure most if not a good percentage of people are trying to use Google to make money, drive traffic to their offer/site etc. But unbelievably they can't even use Google to perform a simple search.
        Makes you wonder...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

          Certainly does.

I mean here we have every piece of information you could wish for at your fingertips not just on this forum using the Advanced Search Function but of course Google and the other major search engines too yet...

It beats me why most of these guys can't be bothered to use these tools to find out what they both want and need to know. It's amazing!

And one wonders why so many people are not able to make a success of their business. Funny thing is, before the Internet came along, if you wanted to know the answer to anything you'd reach either for an encyclopedia or toddle off down to your local library to find a good book on the subject to carry out the research required to move you from step one to step two.

In other words, stop being so lazy guys and start using some initiative. You've never had it so easy before yet here many of you are still asking the most basic questions.

Here we are on a forum with close to half a million members, literally hundreds of thousands of threads started in the past offering up information on all kinds of subjects.

Does it never cross your mind to think, "I know what I'll do, before I ask the same question again, I'll have a look to see what else has been posted up on this subject before."

Does this never go through your mind? Does it not ever cross your mind to use your brain and a bit of initiative to find the information you want?

If you cannot be bothered to use this simple initiative, what hope is there for the rest of your self employed business career?

Think about it. And you wonder why other more experienced members here feel rather exasperated with the new breed of newbies on this forum.

Didn't they teach you nothing in school?

Did they not teach you how to dig up information under your own steam?

It genuinely puzzles me often why a lot more of you cannot perform the most basic business functions without needing someone somewhere to hold your hand constantly.

A business mentor or business coach is someone more experienced than yourself who will show you the ropes, how to reach your goals much faster and more effectively than under your own steam Albert in a given amount of time. Saving you both time and money in the long term.

Not to mention helping you to earn much more money than without their help.

A coach. But more importantly it is usually someone who is connected and can get you connected to others you wouldn't have the opportunity to connect with, without their help.

Maybe the OP asked the question wrong. Maybe it wasn't "what is a mentor?". Maybe it actually meant "what makes a good mentor"? or "how is a mentor different from a coach?"

Mentors and coaches are similar, but like someone else already mentioned, mentors are more often than not "walking the walk." They are not giving you their guidance because of what they have learned, but from what they have actually done.

Good mentors are very hard to find, but they can have such a lasting impact.

        Hi,

The wrong Mentor would be the Dementor.
