Would you agree that Amazon, eBay and AdSense are... some of the best ways to make money on a niche site?

With Amazon, the trust factor is there so people by other stuff... same with eBay (although I really miss there old plan with $50 fees for new people), and AdSense... it used to be that you had to find a niche that had high paying keywords, but now with "retargeting" you never know what ads will show up on your site, that could be of great value.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of adsense. First, it pays too cheaply and requires a tremendous amount of traffic to make good money. Secondly, it takes the same amount of visitors to get an adsense click as it does to make a sale via affiliate marketing. It's like choosing between 0.30 and $30. There's also the matter of the visitor leaving your site once they click on the adsense link. It's a waste when you consider the fact that they could have been put on your list, so you can promote to them later.

As far as Amazon, it can be worth it. You just need to make sure that you promote higher-priced products and cross promote more expensive items to bolster your commissions. For instance, if you're in the computer game niche, you can also promote chairs, desks, headsets, actual gaming computers and more in addition to the computer game itself.

    Good luck,
    Joey

  • eBay?

    YES!

By far! The problem most people have with it-- though, is that they don't take a DATA-based approach to it...

People who relist and relist and relist over and over again, or people who ever have an item UNSOLD just didn't approach it right.

The great thing about eBay is that you can know EXACTLY how much you can make BEFORE you list an item.

Unfortunately people don't know how to do this and quickly loose faith - and that is sad.

I follow a personal rule: Sell 100 percent of my items for profit, or I don't list it.

And you CAN predict this BEFORE.....It's what I've taught and implemented for years. And yes, I do agree with you - it's not only the fastest way to make money, but it IS trusted.

    Good post.

I'd like to see more people make that clear in their threads.

Not everyone here is an affiliate, or does affiliate work exclusively. I sell physical goods on Amazon and I'm also an Amazon affiliate. Trust me, I make way more money selling physical goods.

...but I guess people that aren't long time affiliates may not know that eBay used to give you $50 when referring someone to an auction that also created a new account. I really did well with that back when New Kids on the Block did that short comeback tour haha

I'm trying to get into the affiliate world - which is why I joined the WF - to learn how to do that.

I know eBay awesomely well, and I teach it awesomely well and it is 'legit' as as been stated- but getting it ready as a WSO and submitting it to CPA networks is my next step.

But again, thanks for the plug!
I meant... being an eBay affiliate of your OWN eBay products... now that is a wonderful way to make the extra money... doesn't eBay encourage that? I stopped getting their emails awhile back..

Then... besides having a course on "selling on eBay for MEGA loot", you can say... "and learn to promote your own stuff as an eBay affiliate to make more money"... and then say... "and here's a course to learn to outsource that part of it"

I tried my hand at selling on eBay.. wasn't for me but I know there is money to made.. my first short report eBook did very well on eBay back in the day.. it was eBook with a recipe with affiliate links incidentally... people rather enjoyed it based on the feedback. Not saying this is a viable model now mind you.. at least not on eBay.. they stopped allowing digital products no?

Anyway.. I was seated next to a man in Niagara Falls revolving restaurant when I was STOKED about buying up local auction lots and seeling on eBay... This man was doing it and doing it to the tune of 6 figures and he gave me the process. I tried for awhile and it just wasn't for me in the end. I'm more into digital goods (and 100% commissions)... but I still had a bit of fun with it I won't lie.

It's awesome that you are laying it out for people man.. could change lives by hooking people with an income stream on eBay... give people a sense of purpose and digital earnings at the same time... exciting!

I say, one good way to make money online is:

            1) Find a course to learn to sell on eBay
            2) Learn to be an affiliate of eBay selling your own stuff but geotarget the visitors who don't qualify to buy it based on location (AdSense backup)
            3) Learn to "outsource" or "hire" a lot of it out when the time is right
            4) Add extra elements as you go.. branch out to a) lead gen b) other affiliate offers c) and so on... just make it unique, and provide much more value than the actual cost.. and the money will catch up

When you know the location of your visitors (city, region, or country) it's just easier to know what ads to show.. it helps make them more targeted.

As an example... I'm in the raw food niche... I like to promote stuff from Amazon for the trust factor right... but.. I have an audience more than just in the U.S., so when I know where they are from I can display a different ad... I happen to be an affiliate of a site that is willing to deliver products to all countries.. While the trust is less than Amazon (and there isn't a whole other catalog of unrelated products that I get commissions on, when the visitor gets the urge to qualify for "free shipping", by buying more, like on Amazon), it's still a way to monetize to all locations. Feel me?

It still boils down to "lots of traffic" but when targeting the ad TO the traffic once it's there, I think that's the yummy peanut sauce on the vegetarian spring rolls. So, it stands to reason, at least to me, that you will get more conversions (providing there is an offer available to other locations... hint: AdSense/eBay are global), when using a geo targeting script to determine the visitors location before dropping an ad (or other content) in place.

Incidentally, I sell geo targeting scripts and plugins for Wordpress

Granted, I see people discussing much success with Amazon, AdSense, and eBay without geo targeting. And I hear ya when you say that it's better to "capture the lead" then send someone off with an AdSense click (and it's not always low-priced AdSense clicks of course), but to "capture the lead".... is that always easy for a brand new do it yourselfer with a limited budget? Not always... Plus... there's less to do all around when using AdSense... and to top it off.. you can implement AdSense AND get leads from the same page.

Why do you thing AdWords let's us geo target our PPC ads? Now... think about the people that are browsing your site or blog, you can "talk to them" more intelligently knowing where they are from.

Now, there are other geo targeting options out there, other than mine, but I have fantastic custom support Also... check out an old WSO of mine, you'll be able to land on a hidden page on my site for an exclusive Warrior discount on both products.

are you selling an ebook or is it a video course? I think that if you have a "series" of lessons... then I'd pay the $1 to get on Kajabi and learn from Frank Kern the amazing way to sell it... (unless you're past that part?)

... are you now just looking to build an affiliate army to help you promote it?

I would take lessons from Alex Ortner and the "Juice Feasting" guy, I forget his name... they really help their affiliates become successful by providing instruction, swipe files, exclusive offers... the whole lot.. more than just the standard "here's some banners"...

Plus... these days it's good to really have the affiliates screened and read over a solid Terms of Service because merchants are liable for their affiliates actions these days, so it's good to cover your butt... I'm pretty sure the Kajabi affiliate program has a good solid TOS in place that can be provided as a starting point to bring to a lawyer or whatever... protect your assets man.. and do your thing....

  • It is a mixture of a lot of things.

It's eBooks, dynamic content, etc. I didn't want to sell a downloadable eBook because eBay changes so much, and so I wanted to make sure my users have the most up-to-date information available... so as eBay evolves, so does their information.

So what they get is a membership with the eBooks, opportunities to ask questions, an updated blog, webinars, etc.

Awesome, how regular are the webinars? One company I know started doing webinars every single Monday with fantastic results. They dropped the ball not thinking it would have any relevance, but as it turned out, that one weekly commitment was the key. Granted.. some areas only need new info each month... but it's more about reminding people who you are and telling your story and how you succeeded, so that people relate.. like Tony Robbins suggests.. "build rapport"..

  • 2 Webinars.

1 is for the people on my 'free eBook list'. where I discuss the principles of selling 100 percent of your items on eBay and following my 3-rules of eBay. I could do this once a week, right now it is 'population-based' or, when a 'certain number of spots are filled'

The other webinar is for those that are premium subscribers where we discuss the principles of the 1000 dollar challenge (as well as the sell 100% of your items for a profit) and how to maximize that... It is the 'deeper doctrine' of eBay, and is more regular - bi-monthly.

Both webinars are Q&A as well as I want to make sure my subscribers get quality and a great product - it's been in development for long enough that the proof of concept is there - I just want to make sure people are implementing it correctly so a visual demonstration sometimes helps.

These are my favorite affiliate programs. First, the three of them cover just about every niche there is and you don't need to sign up and apply for different affiliate programs each time you create a site or even just want to focus on something different.

And second, with Ebay and Amazon you can be pretty sure you are giving your readers solid deals and aren't gouging them just to make a few extra bucks.

Yeah certainly not the top 3... the top 3 could be different for anyone really... I'm more of a fan of 100% commissions and multi-tiered systems for scale, but those 3 are SAFE, easy, and quick-ish...

What I mean by "safe"? I'll tell you a quick story...

One day I decided to participate in CPA marketing. I decided to connect with a Canadian CPA network because I'm in Canada...

I decided to jump right into Facebook marketing...

My mistake: I did direct-linking without link cloaking...

The results: I sent mass amounts of leads to a long form offer using very creative advertising that took me several hours of thinking to drum up. It worked ridiculously well for 3 days (profiting just under $1000 3 days in a row)... what happened next?

      1) The merchant banned me from promoting the offer because "although I did not violate any existing terms..." they did not like my approach and the leads were of no value. They asked the CPA company to relay that message to me and they did so with a short message and a smily face.

      2) They decided not to pay me for the leads I did accumulate.

      3) The merchant began using MY ADS on Facebook immediately after

Ah well... it is what it is

I believe they are worst and least preferred ways because you give them the lion's share (profits and assets) and you keep the change which makes it difficult to scale your business.

Best ways are to have your own products and/or services and use amazon, ebay and adsense to compliment your existing efforts. (Or even use it to bring you traffic and customers rather than sending it to them! )

I've gone off amazon, because people will just go directly to their site. I do. I bet you do too.

Also, it's very easy to start with amazon affiliates, the barrier to entry is low so everyone does it. It means more competition, and they can also afford to screw affiliates with 24 hours cookies and capping UK commissions at £7 per item even if you sell something worth $10,000.

    It's not a good deal.
