Single opt-in WP plugins?

So - I've been going back and forth with single v double opt-in for my free eBook list creation - and I think I'll go the single opt-in route.

I have a sales funnel on my free eBook anyway, and my free eBook gives great value and if someone wants to get my upsell which also gives great value - then they'll put in the correct info anyway.

So - for that reason I think I'll go single opt-in for my free eBook.

My question is: Do any of you have any recommendations for a good Wordpress plugin for single opt-in webpage redirects?

It won't be for a download - it will be a 'submit your email - and I'll take you to an internal webpage for the eBook'.

Spanks!

ADE.

You can use Aweber for single opt-ins.

Been wondering about this too. Is there a way to do this without an AR company? Just a form that sends email addies to you, and redirects to a download page. Handle the follow-up emails manually.

I'm sure you could do that with some basic PHP. Why would you want to handle the follow-up emails manually? Can you give us some more information?

Small list of customers, and I mostly send personal emails. But I still want to collect emails via the site. Obviously this wouldn't be practical for more traditional kinds of email marketing. Will look into a PHP script, but I'm in the 'hopeless but trying to learn' category when it comes to that.

        Thanks,
        Jeremy

It would be as simple as storing the email address and name in a SQL database and querying the database as required. Having said that, it's not as easy as it sounds if you have no experience in that field.

Perhaps you could have them email you or find their email from their profile or something like that.

Sorry mate. Can you tell me a little about what you're trying to do? Are you using Aweber? Why do you want a plugin to do this? Have you already got your squeeze page or do you want that set up as well?

  • This is what I'm trying to do (and currently I'm using WP email capture)

#1, when you sign up for the eBook, you are transferred to a web PAGE (not a download) where you can read the free eBook from there.

#2, gather an email list to give people updates on the site, keep them informed on new products, invite to webinars/videos/etc.

If you search through the WP plugins from within your WP dashboard you will find more than a handful of options...

The problem when trying to do it this way is you are essentially "self-hosting" your autoresponder and this can get sketchy on some shared servers.

However, if you decide to go this route you should look into using an SMTP service like MailJet or Smtp.com or Sendgrid so that the emails will have a better chance of hitting the inbox and this will take the load off your server.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Coby

P.S. You could also use some type of "form" plugin and just collect the email address and have them forwarded to the download page afterwards - of course you would still need a way to email them.
