I Need The Help Of Serious Marketers!

Hello. My name is Kevin and I have been struggling with the online game. First, I am not lazy and have great motivation. If you are a negative person, please do not reply. I am a father of 5 trying to create a second income. First, I want to build a residual income. I am tired of being scammed. I have lost over $15,000 on people who claim to help, but then leave you high and dry.

These are the things that I have tried on my own. I tried to create niche sites, but could never seem to get them ranked or get much traffic. I think that either I pick too competitive, or the wrong keywords. I have also tried to pick products from clickbank and market them with videos, but can never find my videos. I followed a WSO step by step and could not get my videos on the first page of google. I picked a niche, made the video, put the keywords in the title, description, sent some links to the videos, and nothing. Also, I tried to make a blog on a niche, and could not get much traffic to it. I have been putting in time and effort, but am very confused.
I AM NOT GIVING UP!!!! I really would like to make some money from my own blog, and some niche sites. I would then like to go into the IM niche once I get things worked out.

Honestly, I am looking for some help from the seasoned veterans for advice and help. I am not looking for SPOON FEEDING, but am looking for some help because of my lack of success.

I want whoever decides to comment on this or pm me to know that I am very eager and willing to work. I know that this takes time. I just need some advice. I feel like I am now on overload and spinning my wheels.

Honestly, I am willing to be a success story, or testimonial for anyone that wants to help me. I do not like asking for help, but am at the crossroads where I do not know what the heck I am doing wrong. Maybe my keyword research is wrong, I do not know.

For all those who decide to help me out THANK YOU and Happy Holidays!
To the Negative people, please move on because I have done work and am trying! Thanks Kevin.

Basically, I have lost this money over time. I lost it on people who said they would mentor me and then disappeared after they got the money. Then on people who claimed they would help me build niche sites. They would talk a great game, send a few basic emails, then off into space on me. They would not answer emails, or return calls. Its been rough.

Sounds like you are chasing the 'magic bullet' all the time. Many on here have done that at some point although thankfully not to the tune of $15k. What you need to do is work out your strengths and what you like doing. There's plenty of free info on this very forum covering pretty much most online models. Read and digest.
Do not buy/invest in anything else in the mean time.

i agree with the other guys .... i myself have not earned a lot of money by IM yet but what i have learned during my 3 years in this area is that patience is the key to success .... you have to give everything its time to grow ....

I have also done the same thing as you have done ... to look for some quick cash and used lots of WSOs but now i have settled down and working on a single thing for some time and i can see the difference ....

The best thing will be to concentrate on a single thing and work on it for at least 6 months ..... you will start to see some results ....

          Best of luck ....

I'd recommend taking a look at website flipping or email marketing, instead of focusing on building a blog/SEO'ing it for traffic. Don't get me wrong, that definitely works, I've made a lot of money from niche sites promoting clickbank products, but Google can at anytime squash your income if your sites stop ranking.

I'm focusing more on email marketing now, because it's a a more stable income and you can build up a list very quickly if you have some money to spend on it. Website flipping is also good because you can flip sites within a few days and put money in your pocket.

So if I were you, I'd put my time and effort into one of these things rather than the traditional "build a blog and get traffic" method. Just my 2 cents.

Curious as to what you spent that $15,000 on? That's a lot of money, sorry to hear you got scammed.

You might be trying too many things but not seeing any of them through to conclusion. Just because something doesn't work straight away doesn't mean that it doesn't work at all. Things take time, results are rarely instant, you need to work on them.

Ranking youtube videos in Google is relatively easy you just need to optimize then properly like you've mentioned and then point enough links at them though you may have been trying to rank overly difficult keywords with too much competition.

People are being scammed on daily bases, what did you bouth with 15,000$? it looks like a lot of money.
Always before you buy anything make sure that you ask a lot of question, the marketers who are selling products are always happy to answer those question and avoid refunds.

Note that unlike any other job on the internet you can hide and you don't have rules of atheics.anyone can sell anything for 1,000,000 on the internet.

          Welcome to the forum.

FYI, this is a fairly public forum. You don't get to decide on what kinds of replies you get.

What you perceive as negative may just be some truth you need to hear.

I am a father of 5 trying to create a second income. First, I want to build a residual income. I am tired of being scammed. I have lost over $15,000 on people who claim to help, but then leave you high and dry.
Warning - this is likely to sound very negative.

That's nice that you're a father of five and all, but that was your choice.
Maybe you've stated that for us to get to know you - or are we supposed to have some sympathy for you?

          Everyone has their challenges.

It was also your choice to spend 15K. Can't verify you've been scammed. That word is thrown around by people who have no real idea what a scam really is. And at this point, it is history. It doesn't really matter where the money went as it's apparently gone. Perhaps the only thing you can do is analyze your decisions to spend the money, what you spent it on, and learn how to make wiser investments.

Tell me, if you go to buy a TV from the store do you do any research first on the different brands out there? Do you go into the store knowing which TV will be best for you or do you simply walk in the store and look for what is on sale or what the sales person says you should get?

These are the things that I have tried on my own. I tried to create niche sites, but could never seem to get them ranked or get much traffic. I think that either I pick too competitive, or the wrong keywords.
You either "think" or you know. So which is it? Are they too competitive or are you choosing the wrong keywords?

I think you actually know what you did wrong. But again, I don't know you or have all the details.

Testing and tracking is how you find discrepancies in your sales funnels and then move on to how or if they can be fixed. Do you have detailed records of what you've done? Did you verify the niche you went into initially was a money niche? Did you have some kind of expertise in that niche? Do you know where the traffic came from that did get to the site? Did you know you don't even need to rank to get traffic?

I have also tried to pick products from clickbank and market them with videos, but can never find my videos.
You finding your videos is really not important. What matters is your target audience finding your videos. Again, the search engines are not the only place your audience will look.

And you sent traffic to this blog how?

I AM NOT GIVING UP!!!! I really would like to make some money from my own blog, and some niche sites. I would then like to go into the IM niche once I get things worked out.
I see the "s" on the end of the word sites.

You're first step is to pick just ONE and make one convert.
What of value are you offering on your site that I'd want to trust you to click your links? Are you spending time connecting to your audience on a personal level? How many traffic sources did you test?

So you are wanting FREE personalized guidance?
I suggest you use the search box on this forum.
Use it for answers, and while you're at it check out replies on threads for those who go looking for a coach or mentor.

You've basically just walked into the TV store and you're letting the salesman tell you which TV to get - without having done some research first.

Your issue is very obvious (to me) just by this one thread.

I'd also be careful about those PM's coming in your inbox. Not going to say there are not any good intentions, but make sure you verify who is sending you private messages.

See guys? this is the fact that's why people buy products to the GURUS who offer products they claim that works.. You know before? SEO doesn't matter but it already exist without people knowing it because it was easy to earn money online back then!

Today! Google implemented the changes with regards to SEO!!

Try to read books from your local library, from 2000 till today.. All of them will tell the same as what those "GURUS" offer..

You said you have a never say die attitude? I don't need to offer you anything.. Go back to the basics!! "WRITE FOR PEOPLE, NOT FOR BOTS"!!!! Hence do not focus on SEO, focus on making a community on your website... It helps big time... You said you tried different products right? I know you already knew what all of them are trying to say...

Have faith, I'll pray for your success as well...

            Sandy,

This is not directed at you or anyone specifically.

There are ways people could take advantage of the OP - even by offering free help/products/advice.

The other think the OP should know to look out for would be "Is this person really qualified to be giving me advice?"

Again, I'm not saying you aren't - I'd have no clue or say in the matter.

I do know for me personally it would be a waste of my time to be getting advice about niches or fields that I just have no interest in just for the sake of making some money.

And it goes both ways. Neither you nor I personally know the OP or his ultimate intentions.

Sandy above has offered/sent you something from what I can tell.

            You are still here.

Shouldn't you be somewhere taking some action?

The issue here is you don't have any direction. If you did, you'd have some very specific questions you'd be asking.

You want serious marketers with serious advice?

Perhaps you need to ask serious questions.

To get, you're going to need to give a bit.

I see mention above about CPA.

            Great. Big whoop.

CPA, while a general direction is still a huge field.

What do you know already about CPA? What is it you need to know that you are not able to research yourself?

I would be skeptical about the serious help you will get, as your actions so far don't reflect you being serious enough about what you are doing.

There are many internet marketers who lost even more then what you have lost yourself. When I got started, my first 5 years online "TRYING" to make money, I lost more then $10,000 so I feel your pain but the best advice I can give you is to not give up.

I know the moderators don't like me to post this but I am going to anyway since you said something about it. Yes, there are products on Clickbank that allows you to earn residual income but you will not earn more profits from the efforts of others. That is why I would look into network marketing online. Find a good and solid program that pays well and works for others.

      I wouldn't agree that he's a sucker.

The OP would be a sucker if he gave up. The fact that he's still willing to grind after losing 15k means he's cool in my book.

Bouncing from one idea to another is a recipe for disaster.

Anyway: I'd recommend providing VALUE to a certain community.

      How?

Make ONE site (not two, not three, ONE). Make it about something you know about or are willing to learn about.

Then provide ridiculous value to your niche. Stuff that makes people say "holy crap this is incredible!".

If you do that -- and work to get the word out -- you'll make money.

This is great advice and I second it - It sounds like you have fallen victim to the shiny object syndrom - bouncing from one idea to another and never staying long enough to make it work.

As for making residual income then one option is to create a membership product. This could be a website or a series of emails. Figure out what you are passionate about - identify a common problem within that passion - create a solution and then sell the solution.

One example I have used myself (since i am a freelance writer anyway) was to create an ebook on helping parents help their kids do homework. I am a parent and every parent I have ever talked to has complained about this issue. Because I was already active in my kids school I was able to get recommendations from teachers and start making some sales. This is just one example of taking a real life problem and applying your own knowlege and existing networking.

        Good Luck

LOL. I'm the good guy man. I'm trying to scare you away from losing another $15,000 by being mean...

Do you know what I personally think is the biggest b.s. comment in Internet Marketing?

"It takes money to make money."

Get out of that mentality. It doesn't cost much money at all to make a ton online. Just pick a tactic that works and stick with it until you net profit. Then scale up. That's the only thing anyone can do to make more money through IM.

      1) Experiment
      2) Evaluate
      3) Eliminate
      4) Concentrate on what works.

If you do that, you WILL succeed no matter what.

True - and it works both ways. You've been a member for a year and just began participating.

You aren't a victim - you are a product of your own choices. Use this forum and the excellent info in it - and learn to make better decisions.

Constructive comments may not be as fuzzy as you'd like - but you've followed the dreamweavers and where has that gotten you? Sometimes the best advice you can get is a reality check.

  • I would change the tone of your request. You did not mention what you are good at or how you can help other people.

Your story is far from unique. Many of the success stories have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars chasing success before they actually found their success.

The best piece of advice that I would give you (from somebody who has made many of the mistakes that you have) is give up your complaints about the past and focus on how you can provide more value.

I go to sleep asking myself -
    1. How can I be better tomorrow?
    2. What can I do more of tomorrow?
    3. What did I do great today?
    4. Who can I help?
    5. Where can I put more energy?

If somebody screws me now, I let it sting a little bit but take the lessons and move on.

Good luck and thanks for your courage in reaching out and asking for help.

What is the reason for mentioning "lost cash"? What purpose does that serve you?

You also state you have lots of kids etc. What is the purpose of that statement???

You signed up in 2011, so in 1 year you spent $15k or what is the story?

I started in the 90's. I had no training, no software, no tools, no ebooks, nothing like that.

But I asked myself...What do people want? What am I interested in? How can I find good stuff to deliver to the wanters?

I made a decision on a type of product. Found a supplier, got a domain, made what is now called a "Landing Page". I called it my explanation page. I put the supplier links and ads on my info page. I bot the cheapest keywords, and many "weird ones"...that are now called "long tailed" keywords.

    Somehow I lucked out!

The supplier had what people wanted. It was in relative short supply. The keywords were purchased at places like Miva.com, Overture.com, GoTo.com and I put the domain in all the directories and search engines. I then wrote pages about the product generally and specifically.

Later I made a link directory with Zeus.

I was always ahead of the game with this strategy.

    Point is, THINK FOR YOURSELF!

Imagine in the offline world. You want to make some cash. Do you have to learn and be good at EVERY TYPE OF BUSINESS???? NOOOOOO!

You just have to learn how to sell 1 thing! Get good at that!

No one can start off selling everything! Sell 1 thing!

Start small, do $50 of PPC. If it works, expand. If not find the problem!

Good product in an area you have interest, plus web site and landing page, plus eyeballs.
What else do you need to know? Just fill in the blanks dude!

Don't make this hard, it is not.

    Thank you

you have tried a few things and have not had much success

firstly that is completely normal so don't worry

most people never succeed without quite a few failures under their belt

99.9% of people that do well online have had more failures than they can probably count so don't think that you are alone, you are far from alone. There are probably hundreds of people reading this thread that are in the exact same position as you but just don't bother doing a thread about it

There are lots of ways to make money online but if you are serious about creating a long term and stable income then you need to start treating it like a business and stop trying to make fast money

I am now going to give you the recipe for success online in a simple guide:

    1. create an IM blog and document your entire journey (optional but highly recommended)
    2. create a quality free offer (around something you are good at, but niche has to be profitable)
    3. create a couple of weeks worth of follow up messages in your auto-responder
    4. send a mixture of plenty of good info along with the odd promotion of affiliate products
    5. market the hell out of your squeeze page and add it to your IM blog
    6. as you progress create your own product and sell it to your list
    7. create and sell more products and scale up from there

this is pretty much all i have done

it works, it's super profitable and you don't have to worry about the clowns over at google messing your rankings up every week which effects your income because you own a list and you have a rock solid business :-)

    hope this helps

I also have spent thousands of dollars on internet marketing "LEARNING".

    So, you lost $15,000...

That is pocket change compared to what I have spend on my education. I have spend way more and did not lose a single penny.

It might help if you would look at this internet thing from a different angle:

    1. There is money to be made.

    2. You will not get rich overnight.

This forum can give you a nice education and can help you build a business. It will cost money.

If you go to a bar and get drunk it will cost money too. If you only look at the hangover you might consider it a loss. If you look at the fun and what you learned you will not worry too much about hangovers.

Long story short: stop playing the victim and invest some money in your education. If you have not learned anything after investing $150,000 you might want to consider to buy a ticket to Vegas and feed them machines... you might get lucky.

No, seriously, you can always learn something. Pay attention to how people get your money. Then see what you can offer...

    1) you need a website
    2) you need a product
    3) you need traffic

You need to get good at a variety of marketing skills, alternatively you need to get good at outsourcing those to others who are good at them. Using sites like fiverr and others to get projects done if you don't have the skills to do them well yourself.

From our emails back and forth, I would have to say that you should stick with one strategy and never give up on it. I was like you. I would jump from one program to the next looking for the gold nugget.

We were talking about a program called Empower Network. I am not sure if you are still in it or not but if you were to just stick with them and take action, even though your mentor was not helping you a whole lot, you can still do well with them.

If so many others are having great success, so can you. They are not better then you. You are a smart person and can do well.

Maybe you're too busy trying to keep busy and/or take shortcuts.

What I mean is you have to sit back every once in a while and just think about the big picture.

You've asked the first question: How do I make money?

Then you were given the answer: niche sites.

On its own, that's almost the same as someone telling you "start a lemonade stand". Go further:

Niche site = targeted buyers market + traffic + conversions

And of course the whole idea relies on SEO. It sounds like you haven't done much with regards to SEO, but you're disappointed niche sites "did not work"...

It's ok to abandon plans and ideas if you can't do them. Everyone should play to their strengths, but surely you could TRY to SEO the niche sites? Every make-money idea has a tough part, unless you're scamming or abusing loopholes.

There are so many SEO products and link builders with free trials, why not give some a go? Maybe join a forum that specializes in SEO like SEOsUnite?

For what it's worth, the easiest ways to make money are:

      1. Article writing (using a "head start" system like WordAI)
      2. Niche sites based on product names (low competition SEO)
      3. Creating an email list through content locking. This can be done through Facebook if you suck at SEO. Stay away from the internet marketing niche for this one!
      Good luck

Ok I hate to say this, but nobody gave me a thing when I posted these types of silly threads. Look you spent money because you were; maybe still are acting out of desperation. Spending all kinds of money on all kinds of products. I was there I bought a ton of these things and wasted hours and dollars. The main reason..... I wanted a button.
The wasting of money stopped when I got an expensive coach and started working instead of buying.

"Marketers sell products and leads buy products"

I searched out the warrior forum for all the free stuff I could find that would help me build my business. I spent and still spend hours on changing my mindset from lack to abundance. My sound cliche, but it works. Successes don't get hand outs because they have a dream. Help finds them when the commit to and take constant daily action towards their goals.
Free coaching is a silly thing to offer or ask for in a market place where these items are sold. Want help..... Type in coaching in the search bar and find out what happens. Unsub from all the junk (sorry everyone) in your inbox and pick a direction and follow it until you make some money. Then move on. Simple as that.

Nice post Kevin, should generate a lot of ideas.

What you could consider is setting up your own private blog network and then sell article researching, writing and posting to your blog network as a service.

There's lots of businesses out there who have cash, but no time to promote themselves online through articles and press releases.

The steps I would take would be:

    1. Pick an industry or niche that you have knowledge in and/or enjoy
    2. Buy some old domains or new domains. Look for godaddy discount codes in Google to get them at a discount
    3. Build some nice-looking web sites on those domains and add a bit of unique content related to the industry or niche
    4. Slowly build the Page Rank of those domains through blog commenting, article marketing and other SEO link-building methods
    5. Sell your online promotion service (ideally as a monthly subscription), to local businesses in that industry or niche.

The hard work is in steps 4 and 5. The great thing is that you have good writing skills and a sense of purpose and motivation.

To set up 10 sites including decent web hosting should cost you less than $250 for the first year. Start with 10 and see how it goes.

Go for it and good luck.

You have to prove that you can be trusted and that your work is really helpful. You have to work a lot until you’ll manage to convince the public that you are an expert in your field, and beat your competitors.

Building trust takes time. This is why you have to be consistent and persistent. You also have to be elastic and learn how to market your products.

Outsourcing is good, but also dangerous because you cannot just trust anyone. Be careful with the people you hire.

I have started working from 4 years ago in internet marketing for extra income. Like most of you I spend a lot but got nothing. Finally I realized the reality. This business is nothing like a shop. In whatever niche you are working for you need customer, i.e traffic or leads select the right products that is truly profitable and working marketing system.

There is no push button system, if it's like that; it's nothing but scam. You have to work consistently and leave your comfort zone.

I agreed what most of the warriors believe that you should stick on one niche but that should be right one which really suitable niche for you to earn.

In 2001, I started by focusing on list building and email marketing. Back then everyone published their own version of an "ezine. I'm still focused on list building and email marketing. Some "experts" say that email marketing is dead. If that were so, I would not be doing it. I have some blogs but I don't obsess on adding new content regularly. I have never chased Google rankings or SEO, and I've paid for very little traffic over the years. I have no business debt - my business growth has been self-financing almost since day one. Since August 2002, 100% of my income has been derived from the Internet. I work about 15 hours a week (if it can be called work) take naps and goof off the rest of the time.

I think the main issues you have is getting traffic quickly and at the correct price. SEO, link building and blogging all takes time and it can be ages before you get decent results.

Also with you tube, no one can't post a video on it and expect it to get views immediately. Google, which owns you tube, has a ranking system which shows the most relevent vids to the search term. The videos which show up on the first page will have had some SEO done to them, backlinks etc to make them rank higher.

In order to succeed, you need to:

    1. Build a squeeze page, capture your leads and give away something of value, a free ebook. The ebook must be on the subject matter surrounding the product you will eventually promote. This is the beginning of the relationship building stage with your subscribers.
    2. Set up auto responders, offering great content and advice. This enhances your reputation and further builds your relationship with your list. After several auto responders, introduce a product which solves the subscribers problem. You earn commission.
    3. Drive targeted, affordable traffic to your squeeze page, ie facebook ads, PPV traffic, solo ads. Place ads in newspapers with a link to your squeeze page, you'd be surprised how well this can work!

    Hope this helps.

It took me four years bro, FOUR YEARS, to see a penny of profit. You've got
the first ingredient, which is persistence, but you have to:

    1. FOCUS on ONE product, and ONE business model UNTIL it makes a profit,
no matter how long it takes. Set a small goal like $15/day, and don't do
anything else until you get there.

    2. Consider alternate sources of traffic, especially paid traffic. Seek out legit
courses - not schemes and plans to make $XX,XXX/day - but legit training
now how to use paid sources effectively.

I have personally had success with adwords, Yahoo/Bing, Facebook ads,
7Search, StumbleUpon, Reddit and a few others.

$10K spent on adwords in a low comp niche could have brought you tens of
thousands of clicks from targeted traffic, instead of the long haul approach of
SEO. Nothing against SEO, but as Google gets pickier, so does the game.

Anyway, hang in there bro, at the same time, there's no shame in admitting
that something isn't right for you. If you truly love THE GAME keep going. If
you're just in it for the money then maybe consider looking elsewhere.
Money is a lousy motivator, and there are better "sure things" out there.

    Good luck man!
