Rent a merchant account?

Hi,

I recently took over ownership of a legit, proven course (simple ebook and 1 upsale which is another ebook)

It's in the Real Estate Investing niche and was denied by Clickbank (because I told them we would CALL the buyers) and denied by Plimus because they don't accept "make money" products any more.

I need to have the 1 click upsale in place... based on old stats 24% of buyers take it... as it's a nice chunk a money.

Anyways... I was wondering if anyone EVER rented someone elses merchant account for a fee? Is that legal?

Or

Do you know of any other credit card processing companies that offer 1 click upsales?

Thanks!

I heard that this company does that. I am not sure if they still accept merchant in the make money online niche:

    Shopping Cart & Ecommerce Software - 1ShoppingCart.com

    Check it out and see.

    RealEstateGuy29,

A merchant account is essentially FACTORING! Factoring (finance) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So 90% of the time, it IS illegal. I actually wanted to do what paypal is doing about 15 years ago! It would have been nice if I did. My processor agent said it wasn't allowed.

Several years ago, a company ran into trouble with paypal, and various 3rd party processors started shutting down their businesses left and right. SOME basically built a business around their processing, and shut out all those using them for a processor.
Based on what they said, I am sure their processors told them what I was told so much earlier.

Anyway, if the average third party let you use their account, THEIR nae would be on your customer's bills! That looks phony, and greatly increases the chance of a chargeback. And if you committed fraud, THEY could lose their account.

Of course SOME, like CCBILL, and Paypal, have special accounts and can even change the name that shows on the customers bills.

you can open a merchant account that has no monthly fee like Square and GlobalPay, or you can get into a merchant account that has no termination fee (for better rates) and close the account after the time which you'll need it for.
