How to Transfer WordPress to New Domain Name

INTERNET MARKETING

OK...I know of the plugin "duplicator" and the tutorials on youtube...just type "transfer wordpress" into YouTube.

NOW TO MY REAL QUESTION:

All the tutorials show hefty technical navigation through file manager, MySQL, filezilla, etc.

HOW DO I LEARN MY WAY AROUND CPANAL, MYSQL, ETC. SO THAT I CAN MAKE LOGICAL SENSE OF IT AND WON'T HAVE TO WATCH A TUTORIAL EVERY TIME?

The most logical and easiest way if you want to do it manually, would be to just transfer files, modify the urls of database and setup a new one in the new host, and then correct the wp-config.php file to the new database details, that's all.

If this isn't "logical" then I suggest you use a plugin.

However, whatever you do, backup first.

#1 Pay someone else to move it for you, it will charge around $30 or

#2 Learn it yourself and move it the hard way, MySQL and Tables or

#3 Use a premium plugin like BackupBuddy and use it to move

  My point is that I WANT TO LEARN THIS "FILE TRANSFER" STUFF COHERENTLY.

Moving Wordpress is prolly a VERY easy thing to do than it appears, you don't need to spend time of thinking of any "logic" for doing it. I can move a Wordpress site in sleep also

The best way to learn the steps is type in keywords in Youtube and watch the professionals show you step by step tutorials on aspects of wordpress tasks like transferring sites, installing WP etc

I don't understand why you would need to refer to a tutorial every time. Watch the videos, learn the process and practice it yourself. Only by practicing will it make the process flow much more simple.

The "logic" is that the wordpress files and the mysql database have to be on the new server. But if it's a new domain name, you'll need to manually edit the database.

Use phpmyadmin to change the "siteurl" in the table "wp_options" after you have moved the database to the new domain.
