How Many Niche Markets Are You Dancing In?

Hey guys, for most who are starting, one niche seems like almost enough for one man to handle.

Are there any of you who work alone, yet juggle multiple niches?

What's your routine like?

How many hours do you wind up investing online?

Do share your story.

I'm sure many others will be interested and will certainly find it enlightening.

    Too many....lol

I'm heavily involved in 9 niches... 23 overall but some I very rarely pay much attention to and I work closely with a partner, we mastermind with a group of 8 others on a weekly basis too.

My routine varies from day to day, it'd be hectic to lay it down here... because it is so varied.. some days I put in 12 hours, other days I do nothing...

I find that focusing on a detailed to-do list helps greatly.

Each night I draw up the next days list on a whiteboard... ensuring that I make very clear and defined tasks to complete.

    Peace

We have activities in 4 niches any even given one can be a ton of work. So we work on "one" heavily for a few days with the others getting elss attentio. The after a few days we switch to another one getting the elbow grease.

To do it right one good niche can be a lot of work. I think the most I ever juggled was around 10 though, and most of them were profitable. Ahh the good ol' days.

A few of them yes, most of them no.

Your question isn't really relevant though . It's like asking the publisher of a newspaper or magazine if they're passionate about every product they advertise in their pages.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I currently have 4, but 2 of those are mostly out of the picture due to heavy competition. The remaining 2 will have my full attention.
    Focus, focus, focus.

    Hundreds.

I am now going to give you my secret sauce. You will have to get the ingredients for yourself tho

I have a program that identifies new niches automatically. It makes a list of them, then asks me which ones to create and what template to use. I pick the ones I want, then click a button.

The program creates them and starts populating them with content. I just sit back and monitor the stats. If a site performs well, it gets human attention. If not, it just sits there and adds to the portfolio.

I used to try to 'garden' my niches... you know... you take care of a few niche sites personally, monitoring EVERYTHING. But it broke my heart to give so much time and attention with no reward. Shotgunning works better... if you only ever work with sites that are perfoming, you experience winning a lot more.

Anyway, throw it at the wall, see what sticks.

Another tip for people with domains. I have well over a hundred domains. If I'm not using them, I put cash parking on them. You can monitor the cash parking revenue on each domain, and once it gets bigger than a certain point, you can convert it into a real blog / site / whatever.

If you think about it like investing, you don't want to get married to a position. You want to invest in winners, and cut your losses on the losers. In this case, your 'losses' are calculated in time spent. So, make sure you are spending time on winning bets.

The basic idea is always the same... try a lot of things, then focus your energy ONLY on the winners. After all, objects in motion tend to stay in motion. So, it's a lot easier to get behind them if they are already moving, than trying to push them from a stand still.

I think I have about 100 of them now.

I'm starting to realize that I work better with more of a "set and forget" type of approach with smaller sites targetting long tail keywords. I can crank them out, run them through my promotion process and let them simmer for a while then check back every 2 or 3 months and add or adjust as needed.

I have some larger sites, but I noticed that I would always drop the ball on updating them. I think I'm just not cut out for focusing on just 1 or 2 sites - it took me a few years to figure this one out and I think I'd be making more money if I'd just realized it sooner!

  • Too many than I care to mention... over 30 for sure.

Very few of those I have a real interest in, but what are you gonna do? The opportunity was there (good keywords), and with a bit of free research thanks to the internet you can write about just about anything.

I always say... it doesn't matter what you write about in IM, its that you make money doing it!

I agree with the "profit with a purpose" idea. I still have a few moral qualms with the throw everything at the wall and see what sticks technique. And that's probably why I'm not making $10k a day.

I like to find a niche and saturate it, so I'm in 4 niches at the moment, branching out every month.

Back in 2005, I was in several hundred niches. I homebrewed a portal-building software that automatically churned out sites for specific keywords and topics.

Nowadays, I'm working only 3 niches and finetuning what I do every day. Quite the adventure it is.

I am operating in 3 niches and it occupies most of my time during the day.

What I do is write at least 1 article a day for each niche targeting a low comp keyword that I have already added as content on my site. I will also try to get at least 10 back links a day to each website.

Once I start getting enough organic traffic coming from the search engines, I will let them ride and move onto another 3 niches.
