hosting reseller program -- Hostgator or Godaddy?

does anybody have experience with a hosting reseller program? I have always wanted to do it because I do a lot of web design but I always opt to get the $100 commission instead of doing my own hosting. If you are doing a hosting reseller program I would love to hear about it!

Well, first, what level of knowledge do you have as far as hosting goes? After that, what's your budget, technical requirements/specifications etc?

HostGator is a reputable host however, I'd advise against GoDaddy if you want to provide quality services to your customers.

Warrior Forum also has a hosting offers section here: Web Hosting Offers

What types of features are you looking for? Backups, software etc?

I have pretty decent knowledge of it but from a reseller standpoint it is pretty simple
Reseller Hosting Plans - Web Hosting Packages with cPanel and WHM
they handle all your customer service and everything, you just resell hosting and charge what you like.
When I do web design I have my client buy through my link making me a quick $100 on top of my charges, but if I were to have my own reseller program I could possibly make more over the long haul. Just wanting reviews from people who have done the reseller thing already with hostgator, godaddy or whoever

HostGator doesn't provide end user support if that's what you meant when you said "they handle all of your customer service and everything". Even if you reseller hosting to them, you're still responsible for supporting those customers directly - not many web hosts offer end user support.

Kingfish85 makes an excellent point. If your customer has a problem they are going to call you, as they should. The upside to this is that Hostgator has been rock solid with their hosting.

I have had 1 issue with them in a little over 2 years. My customer emailed me. I got on Hostgator's chat box. The problem was resolved in a few minutes.

This business model may not be the best fit for you but it can and does work. The monthly passive income is a nice bonus.

I have multiple reseller accounts with hostgator. As far as shared hosting goes... works fine. Godaddy is one of the worst hosting providers on the planet. So definitely do not go with them. One thing they never spent enough money on was their hosting. Some of that Godaddy girl advertising should have went into infrastructure.

I have dedicated servers, VPSs, etc... all over the place though. But for just straight up quick, easy reseller setup. Hostgator works fine, since they use WHM.

I offer hosting to my website clients. All but one uses my hosting. I use HostGator's Reseller program. I keep all of the income minus the monthly charge from HostGator.

There are several WHM videos on YouTube. If you understand cPanel, WHM will not be a hard leap.

Best of luck and Happy New Year,

Joe - Thats pretty awesome! I only give my aff link to clients I am building sites for, It nets me an extra $600 - $800 every month, not bad. Its such an easy sell I really should try to get more out of the affiliate side of hosting
