Offer Specialists - Can You Help?

I am in a small dilemma - I recently launched a software (SiteManPro). I followed this launch sequence:

1. Pre-launch price: $77 - Sold 50+ copies
2. At the time of launch: $127 - Sold 80+ copies
3. After the launch: $177 - Sold 70+ copies

But...I am not really satisfied with the numbers. I was expecting at least 4 times more.

Then I ran a small exit survey for few days and asked visitors that why they are not buying. And the HIGH price was the main reason.

At this point, I started an installment option of $30 for six months.

I have sold about only 10 copies since April 1.

And that's where I become confused.

With installment option, conversions actually went down.

Then I talked to few of my customers about a better pricing structure. Here's what I have received so far:

Option 1 - Give software for free and grant access to support, forums and tutorials for only people who pay for support. Keep a fee like $120/year. (I personally didn't like this option much)

Option 2 - Give software for a low low fee ($10) and charge the same 10 bucks for every new version (minor or major). Even if the version has small fix, if it's a new version, customer has to pay $10. (This can be huge if I have a very big custoemr database).

Option 3 - Give software and support both for free and accept donations (I'd hate to go this way)

Option 4 - Lower the price of the software to $77 or $85.

Option 5 - Make software a hosted service and charge people a monthly fee.

What do you suggest is a great option and why? Or do you suggest something else?

I am keen to know a solution that can get me hundreds of users of the software

Thanks in advance for some brainstorming friend...

    Hi Deep,

Product pricing is a specialist science

I have had a look at your product and I think a 2 stage launch would have been a better fit:

    Pre-Launch - $37 - $47
    Launch - $77 - $97

Or, perhaps a lite version at a lower price, I think that there are a lot of features in your product that would not be used by a majority of marketers - the Kunaki integration for example - whereas people who want that feature will pay $297+ for it.

As Pete suggests, a lite version with an upsell to a Platinum version may be the way to go.

      Hi Deep,

Have you had luck with selling licenses to your affiliates at a special discount? I believe I seen one affiliate selling your software here at WF at a deep discount and was curious to know if that have been working out for you.

I would agree with pete, but instead of charging for a lite version and then upsell I would add a free version just for people to try out the software and then gradually built from there and charge based on level pay.

      Regards,

Yup..that makes sense. My subscribers too recommended something similar. It as a very nice discussion and it was exciting to see different angles proposed by different people.

Guess, I got some neat strategy in place now that I am working on.
