Hi guys,

I'm not familiar with Twitter, but I got an article about Twitter ghostwritten and just want to make sure it's accurate.

Is there no limit to how many followers you can have, but you (as the follower) can only follow up to 2000 people?

An excerpt from the article:

"Having a Twitter account is similar to having a new ad everyday of the week."

I think this is not right. Any comments?

Thanks,
Michael

You can follow up to 2000 max until you have 2000 followers. At that point you have no problems following more. I don't really understand the quote, but maybe it is taken out of context.

You can follow 10% more people than follow you, with a 2000 minimum. That means, you cannot follow more than 2000 people until your number of followers plus 10% is greater than 2000.

There's ratio of followed to followers that Twitter let's you have. Initially you can follow up to 2000 people, but once you get more followers, Twitter ups that limit proportionately.

Twitter is more of a social discussion. It can be used strictly for marketing, but you'll lose more followers that way. Better to add value to the conversation.

Sometimes you can promote certain things, but blatant pitches are frowned upon.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, guys. I got a little confused. By "followers", does that mean the people following you, or the people you're following. I thought that means the people following you, but the above statement "You can follow up to 2000 max until you have 2000 followers." says otherwise.

Followers refers to the people following you.

Following is where it can get confusing, depending on whether it's used as a verb or a noun. As a noun, your following would be your followers. As a verb, you would be following x number of people.

    Hi Michael:

Hope all is well. There are people using Twitter for different approaches toward selling or promoting. A good rule of thumb is for every 10 posts have 9 with content people enjoy and one that is plugging something such as your website/product/blog.

Think of the post first. You want it to sell but not look like it has the word SPAM written all over it. Engage people in conversation and build trust.

You'll have to get used to the fact that you are only allowed 140 characters per post. They have to be concise and to the point.

    Hope you do real well!

Exactly, I too have a hard time with twitter..simple messages are the most hard to create...follow me and you'll not feel alone anymore when it come to "maybe lame" twits.

I guess in the end, I'm too not understanding it, but trying.

I guess the followers they refer here are the customers. It's like you have an article for a story then they are the people who continously reading your article for a lot of times.
