Affiliate product site. Is it okay to put ads beside it? Anyone ever tried this?

I'm making product reviews of digital products from clickbank and JVzoo.

And like all starters, I'm not earning anything from them yet.

So I'm thinking of putting adsense or adbrite ads on the side of my page.

Do you think that's okay?

I have mine on wordpress as of the moment but if I'm going to put ads, I'm thinking of making another one hosted by blogger.

    Hi Jensha,

    It's very frustrating, when you start out, to keep paying out and not see a single red cent in return.

    But be careful you don't 'dilute' the effect of your review sites with AdSense, or other distractions.

    Each review site should be focused on a single objective - getting your visitor to click your affiliate link and go and buy the product.

    So it would be a shame to lose a sale where you make 75% of the sale price for the sake of making a few apparently 'easier' cents on an AdSense clickthrough.

      Ow... Yeah I haven't given much thought about this. Thanks. Whew, it's been about two weeks now. I'm making backlinks manually and I have a va to spread it too but no sale yet. That's why I thought of having some adsense ads beside the site and maybe I can earn a little just from that.

    Definitely don't due the adsense, it'll make your sit/ reviews look less legit and it won't earn you more than a few cents.

    Just keep doing what you're doing and the money will come.

    I'd go with Paul on this one. If you're selling something, regardless of what it is, you have to focus on the topic at hand - selling the product!

    One thing I'd do though is grab the opt in before I promoted anything. Paul is right in that you don't want distractions, but even one sale at 75% isn't building you a business. If you grab that contact before they buy, that's an asset that stays with you.

      It's just that I'm starting to think that might be the next one to make a thread how miserable my campaign is and asking help from anybody. I guess it really sucks when you're starting out in IM without any sales yet huh. I really appreciate the replies.

Have a button under the free product (assuming it's a video) that takes them to the next page which will be a presell page for the product you are reviewing.

        If you are giving away written content lead them to the presell page in the written content and also follow up with 2 emails after they receive the free content.

        I hope this isn't too confusing for you cause it's really simple.

    I would not do adsense
    Also, sometimes they don't like seeing things that looks the same as the ads they trying to promote. So if it's a site about "how to make money online" and the adsense ads are about "how to make money online". Well you could run into problems

    I've tried both, on the same site, and no-adsense won hands-down. Sure, you give up a few cents here and there, but my results anyway showed more real (ie, affiliate) sales without than with. Probably for the reasons listed above.

    One other thing to think about is that Google doesn't like a whole lot of adsense cluttering up a site. So if you have it (or too much of it), your SERP ranking may be adversely affected.
