Need Your Thoughts: Should I sell my website?

I created a website (the niche is evergreen). It's 3 months old but it's already in the Google 1st page position 7, 8, and 10 for the three keywords. And, the other keywords are ranking 30+. I haven't done any major backlinking or promotion with it yet.

Here are what I did so far:
1. Social Bookmark
2. RSS submit
3. Press Release
4. Video submission

The traffic is moving up:

Average traffic per day: 90
Earnings (3 months) = $157 from an eBook (affiliation)

Number of posts in the website: 300+ (I wrote them and I also hired a high quality writer from the Philippines).

I haven't done any major things yet. No email list. and I have some other plans for the pages to monetize them but I don't have that much time. I have some clients to attend to and I have some other things and plans to do this 2013.

I can see a really good potential for this website because the competition is low and the search is really high. I was indexed really quick and got ranked pretty awesome. I checked the SERP and I went a little (Google Dance) I think but it's still in the 1st or second page of Google results for the keywords.

MY PROBLEM:

1. I have a lot of other projects going on.
2. I think I'm not ready for this kind of website (big website) yet because I don't know what to do with it. I'm a new marketer but I have been a part of huge projects (website creation) before I decided to become an IM.
3. The traffic is going up but I haven't earned that much. $157 within 3 months is great but I just don't know or I don't have the time to leverage it.

I need help in making some decision. Should I keep this one in my portfolio and maintain it?
or
Should I just sell it to somebody who can make it really do better than what I did with it so that I can focus on my other projects?

I spent my time and resources in getting all the research and other things before I created this website. I'm in the middle of making a decision. I don't want to regret anything so i'm completely confused on what to do with it.

Thank you very much.

First of, congratulations on doing something about 90% of internet markets can't. You made a single dollar.

As for selling it, you made about 50.00$ a month on a site only a few months old. Sounds like a very well made site, and niche! This website has a lot of potential from the sounds of it. You may just have a several hundred dollar website a month on your hands. Without a List, and you probably have some much more you could add for more traffic, expansion sounds good.

Would you rather give up a different project to create some more time to expand? If not, maybe you should sell it. But its age isn't ripe yet.

I wouldn't sell it personally. I would expand and use the potential it has. PM me if you'd like some more help.

    • Thank you very much for commenting. The website looks good. It was created from scratch. Using WP. It's not perfect but it looks professional. Better than most of it's competition. I spent almost a year researching about the niche.

I still need some ideas from the other Warriors.

      Thank you

    Hi globalwritersdirect,

In my experience, once your site is doing that well, it will begin to produce increasing income without any further input from you.

So I agree with Jacob: don't sell it. Just enjoy what eludes most internet marketers - true passive income.

    Well done you!

If you want to stack the copywriting deck in your favor with tricks and hacks producing winners like: "$20K in three days" "650 sold" "30% conversion", then you might like to know I'm retiring and will spill the beans to two people. More info here.

    • I just added 15 more articles (high quality) all scheduled (1 per week). No keyword stuffing with it. I don't want to get hit with google updates.

Let's see what happens this January and February. I'm not going to touch it for two months because I need to finish two other projects for a client (my current source of income for my daily needs like food, bills, etc). lol...

I'm not ready to spend much time for it yet.

If it were me I'd hang on to it. You've obviously got a winning formula in terms of SEO, keyword research and content generation, so what I would do is start looking for outsourcers who can do this for you. If you're busy and don't have the time to make these sites (which appear to be successful) start looking for outsourcers who can follow clear instructions and then you can scale up this income stream. Passive profit is the holy grail of IM!

    • Thank you very much. Good point there. I'm thinking about hiring a VA from the Philippines.

I agree with Jacob and Paul, you should not sell that website right now.

You can invest the money that you are currently earning on the website itself
    for content and other requirements.

But if you really want to sell it, you can list it on Flippa to earn upto 10x Profit in
    one go..
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7547751].message }}
    • That's also one of the best options. Thank you for bringing that up.

From the sound of it, seems you have a big winner on your hands (Congrats!) - so it may be a bit early to sell, you should be able to make much more from the sale a few months down the line. As suggested, finding an outsourcer to manage the site upkeep may be your best way to go at present. Good luck.

You have done the most difficult thing ... kick start an online business that generates some income ... growing from here should be much easier. You have got the process right and if you document the process and pass this on to a VA then your site can be maintained with your winning formule.

      Well done!
