Need a Senior Warriors advice on forum etiquette.

Hey guys!

Well I just wanted to post my own quick thread in response to an issue I just ran into. This isn't a "why" thread or a complaining thread. This thread is a place where I can learn a very valuable lesson and hopefully help others with the advice given. I will address my concern in the form of a question so that I may learn without downright asking why.

How can I go about offering a free report to my fellow warriors and get some email opt ins in return?

Where would the proper place to post a free offer like that be?

I can assure you I am not the spammy type. I am here to provide quality in all my dealings.

I am pretty sure that my thread was "thin aired" using the report button. I have read the rules of the board and am in full understanding of what they say. I didn't break any rules but I feel maybe I posted in the wrong board.

What say you, Warriors? Please advise me of the proper etiquette here.

The classified section, The WSO section etc.

If we could use the main forum to build our lists every thread on the main forum would be full of offers.

Oh, and your sig is a good place to promote also. Just don't refer to your sig in your OP or most anywhere else in the thread either.

I apologize if I stepped on toes here. I will look for more appropriate boards. It wont happen again guys. I am still open to others advice and techniques though if anyone has anything else they want to put out there!

      Warrior Forum Classified Ads

Everywhere else on this forum is off limits to opt-in forms.
Let's not forget the WSO section.

A good positioned "Free WSO" is an alternative to posting it in the classified ads.
But since WSOs need to be "special", it would be best to limit posting to either that forum
      or the Classified Ads forum.

Honestly, this is why I chose not to go after the WSO Forums as I didn't want to seem like the guy who just showed up and thought he could one up everyone and not put forth anything to the community.

I really do have a solid business model and only wish to prove myself before I begin to put my products out there, as I want people's trust.

That is why I posted a thread offering a free report I wrote to outline some upcoming business trends. Something we all benefit in knowing. This way you guys could see that I was trying to give and not take. Granted some could argue getting emails in exchange is taking something, but at least it was a fair trade. Plus I needed some reviews. Anyway I am not upset or wish to make a big deal out of it. Ill keep it all in the proper boards and thank you guys for being understanding and helping me out. I will be reposting my offer in the Classifieds section so you all can still check it out if you want.

Sorry this even had to come up, but now I learned and hopefully regained some respect I may have lost. I just didn't know it wasn't allowed or appreciated.

          Til next time!

          I agree.

What better way, however, to build credibility than to give something away. Something of value, naturally.

I can appreciate the reality of the fact you outline. Even something that is being given away doesn't just give itself away, people still need to want it or need it to take it.

May I ask your guys a question? In your opinions. What would keep even a free offer from being taken up on? I mean it's usually a pretty easy task, I can't tell you how many time I went ahead and just put in my email address because I was curious. Is that the key? Generating curiosity...

Im not looking for a thesus, just some thoughts from the pros.

              Thanks again guys!

P.S. I decided I would give to receive here. I'll give my quick thoughts on those offers listed above.

              1. Blog WSO - Not very much information is given and very little attraction. It's a lot of reading, unbacked claims, and then I see this "At the end of the book you will know if you have what it takes to become a pro blogger." So you want me to read 20 something chapters, just to find out if this is right for me? Then he wants a HUGE image to sell us.

              2. Social Media - This is just long and boring. No color, no attraction, no reason to buy. I understand WHAT it is he is selling but I am not convinced that he is the best guy to learn from. He doesn't even attract me, how can he teach me to attract others?

              3. Clickbank - If this page had a little more ooomph to it, and gave me a few points to focus on, I would be interested. However he is relying on simply using graphics to attract us. Tell me something!

              4. 6 Figures - I just think it is almost a Red Flag to start throwing profit claims on your headline. It says to me you want me to focus on BIG MONEY. Granted big money is what we are after, but a good merchant with a good product wont need to focus on selling hopes and dreams, but focus on how good the product is and the realistic value it can bring you.

              5. Newbie Marketer - Again I find myself looking at a big block of words and a call to action. No emphasis or main points to attract to. I just wish he would list the points and then let me decide if it is worth it to learn more.

              -----------

              6. We come right back to my main idea. He has emphasis points, some color variation to attract to certain parts of his sales pitch, plus this guy has reviews, lots of them. Some people most likely just want that to sell them. Nothing is stronger than word of mouth.

Well this is my quick outlook on the WSOs you listed. What do you guys think?

P.S.S. Also I would like to apologize if those are your WSO offers listed above. I don't mean to be offensive or for it to seem like I am judging you and I hope all of you have the success you are looking for.

Are you a warroom member? You can offer an optional optin but you have to also give a direct link to your product in there I believe.

I was thinking of the Blog. Can we post articles with resource boxes on our blogs? Also there is a paid article section. You can pay for that and post unlimited articles and put your resource box in.

Regarding you question I missed that sorry. I think you answered it with the curiosity aspect. But people like strategies and hype (sorry to say) and getting over. Free Plr, something nobody else is giving away for free. Its a given they are gonna give up that email.

It's really not a matter of etiquette. You have to pay to advertise, whether it is a free report or not. WSO section or Classified section, unless you just keep it in your signature and not refer to it in posts in the discussion forums. If it's in the WSO section, it must be an original report that you created yourself or had created exclusively for you.

Joshua, whether or not your own motives were pure isn't the issue. From what you've posted, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

The issue is setting a precedent that opens the doors for those whose motives are not pure. If one such thread is allowed, it opens the door, no, make that the floodgates for others. If said others are deleted, the mods are placed in the awkward position of having to either waste their (uncompensated) time arguing why one thread is worthy and another isn't, or simply saying 'don't ask why'.

They've already had to make that choice on the general question of "why was my thread deleted."

          Good luck to you.

As to your second question, when you remove cost from the equation, curiosity can be a big motivator.

I saw your original offer, and I have to say that I'm (personally) not interested in trading my name/email for an unknown's efforts at crystal ball gazing. No disrespect intended...

Thanks everyone for the kind advice and words. Again it was just a dumb new forum member mistake.

Oh and John M., no worries, in fact your words touched home for me as now I see that maybe I should try to get to the brass tax and not make it seem like I am "Crystal Ball Gazing," but taking information that is available to anyone willing to research it, and modeling business opportunities from it. It's amazing what you can find with the right questions.

The free report was created by me and contains information that I can reference. So again. No crystal balls here. Just balls of steel and a willingness to go get it and maybe change the game a little bit too.

Sorry if you are one of those WSO or other product marketers that resort to lies, cheating, and stealing. (Not you specifically John) But I am coming for YOU! Times have changed and it's time to get real. I don't like shady characters online or offline. I will change the way things work in the Business Opportunity market. I hope many of you who deal in the same niche push to do the same.

Thank you for showing me that I need to be more specific next time John and thank you everyone else for pointing me in the right direction. I don't wish to become a scum-sucker like some on here.

              Cheers!

You can also post it here:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/make-money-online/

...but read the rules. You can't use squeeze pages, for example. If you join the War Room you could also post it there. Again, no squeeze pages.

    Joshua,

There no right or wrong way to get people to get on your list from this forum.

You can pay for it or you can have a link in your signature. You can't add an affiliate link there though.

You can also use this forum's article section to get people to see your articles and hopefully click on your resource box.

You can use the warrior forum's WSO section or the Classified ads section.
