Are there any niches that can't make money?

Does it really matter which niche you pick?

Obviously some topics will make more money per product than others, but do you think it's possible to make at least some money in any niche focusing on any product?

What I'm trying to say I suppose is this;

Is it worth spending hours trying to think of the perfect niche and the perfect problem to solve or should one just go for it because all topics have something related to sell. -If you love igloos, build an igloo site!

I think doing the keyword research is essential. There wouldn't be much money in igloos if only a couple of eskimos were searching for it.
  • It's better to work with more niches than to focus on getting the perfect one. I've heard this advice time after time, and realized it in my own work through trial and error.

That said, although you can make money in every niche, there are some I personally wouldn't do just due to my personal ethics.
  • I think using religious topic will be a bad choose and not profitable, it gets a lot of visits but personally it think will be disrespectful using their necessities and get money off, from them, so I think that's one of those un profitable niches.
    All the best.
    Happy 2013!
  • Pick one...
Go to the local magazine rack take a look at some topics, pick one that you have some interested in or something you want to learn about. Buy the Magazine look it over until you know it well.

Then ask yourself if this is really what I want if so.

    You have your niche

    That is the first step

    • Every heard of Poetry books? ..... dont think they would be written if some people didnt like them put up a site build and list and come back and give us your input i bet you will be surprised my wife loves it and use to write it.
  • Id pick 3/4 things you like and go with those.
But anything sells there is always someone wanting something that you dont care for.
I use to say I could sell matches to a man on fire.
Or dirt to a guy that lived in the desert its all about the marketing for the niche your looking to get into.
  • Absolutely...of course it matters what niche you choose.

It's got nothing to do with the 'topic', it all has to do with the market you choose, and then finding the niche within that market that has the best money making potential.

If you can find a market and a niche full of 'desperate buyers', then you've hit pay-dirt
  • I believe a better question instead of what the niche is, how are you defining the niche. Every niche can build interest and grow and usually comes down to how and where it's bundled and delivered.
  • You know, I was sitting here trying to think of a niche that it would be impossible to make money with...and I can't come up with one.

    • Yep You can make money with anything because someone out there wants it
