$1k a day, newbies- its possible

Although i'm not claiming to do this everyday, i have had $1k days, and thought I'd share how I got there with other warriors. This was by no means an overnight thing. It actually took several years before I hit this- but hopefully you can shortcut this learning process with info from WF and other sources. I didn't have all this info available to me at the time.

I'll not put my signature on this post so no one can say i'm posting for promotion (yeah, there are haters here!)

I hope you can learn something from this:

I studied marketing for many years- especially Dan Kennedy's stuff.
While working in my full-time job, on the side, I made some mobile sites, and built up a large list of mobile emails, started getting steady $, quit my job, only to be eventually banned from the affiliate system i was promoting and the carrier changing the emails on all the phones i had built the list from... back to $0.

I started up several low cost, high margin sites. I started targeting people in a niche I knew and sold them cheap CDs I made (yes, this was before the mp3 was popular)

I saw adwords coming along and I got into that early- helping to boost sales.

I learned SEO, and was like duh, search engine rankings!!

Adwords became expensive as the major players learned of it and bid it up, so i switched to adsense and profiting from the higher bids with content sites.
This produced decent profits. Not 1k a day yet...

I started up another site with a friend and this led me to learn about a piece of software which was becoming popular. I learned all about how to use this software, and saw that a lot of others had difficulty using it. I decided to start a site teaching about the software.

It was the right thing at the right time. All my past experience with SEO, marketing, and tech positioned me well for when the gurus started talking about setting up sites and using this software- I became the go to guy for the gurus and their lists.

Orders for my training, and 'done for you' services (people like fish more than learning to fish) began coming in and $1k days!

What lessons do you see in this journey?

David

PS - The 1k a day is from non launch sales- if you do a big launch you can do much, much more than 1k in a day. I'm talking about regular, grind it out daily sales.

What self promotion? I found the op's post to be one of the most useful on this forum today, unlike yours.

David, I think the lesson in that journey is that even if things don't work out you can use the knowledge and experience learned to make something else work so nothing is an entire failure.

Thanks for the background to your $1k day sales. It's interesting how our failures and seemingly wrong paths end up working out for us in the end...if we hold true to our hearts and vision, it all has a reason.

I am feeling my way through 3-5 different online business models (lead generation for banks, affiliate marketing cycling products, ecommerce book site, creating my own ebook and video series). I know i'll have to focus on one to succeed but I'm not sure which one yet. You can't really get far unless you focus.

    Good on ya, David.

I remember Mike Filsaime doing something similar with his Carbon Copy Marketing product, if I remember correctly. Those were tutorials for setting up a sales funnel etc, and he had a script called Butterfly Marketing at the time.

That was a big launch, and combined with your example, it just goes on to show what's possible if you just be on the lookout for little opportunities like these. They come and go all the time and people who can fish them out and act upon them make it big.

Good on ya buddy - although 'several years' seems to be a lot longer than I first thought if it was before MP3's were popular

Not only is this an awesome line but it sums the original post up perfectly.

I guess I missed something but, rather than being inspirational, I found that this was nothing more than something experienced by many thousands of people who were around in the 'Good Old Days' when making money online was a lot easier than it is today.

There were no 'Good Old Days.' It is NOT harder to make money today than it past days.

Certainly tactics have evolved, but that's a dangerous way to think. Many people are making TONS of money online and they are NOT working harder than they were in THE OLD DAYS.

The only thing that has changed is that ridiculous methods that used to work stopped working. Many of those methods were almost too easy. Common sense would have told anyone that they can't last forever.

2013 is just a good a time as any to become an Internet Marketer.

That's certainly one opinion, but mine is based upon making a full time living online since 1996. What do you base yours on?

I've had $1K+ days. Quite a few of them. But they are almost always launch related. I also had 2 $1K CPA days which almost made me have a heart attack..haha. But yeah, when you're selling your own products and your products are actually valuable then it's not really that difficult.

I think the main problem that a lot of people have is that they try to sell something they know nothing about. It always amazes me when I see review pages on products that are not launching for 3 weeks. I think if people stuck to what they know and focused more on creating valuable content, plenty more people would be having thousand dollar + days.
