Affiliate site vs OTO

So I've been following a plan that seems fairly popular. Make a squeeze page with great headlines and offering a free product or information. Then for the optin thank you page you you offer a OTO or Special

I've decided to change that up. Rather on the thank you page I'll direct them to click on an affiliate link.

Or do you think it better to just send them straight to the affiliate offer rather then bring them to a thank you page first.

OR do you think an affiliate offer won't convert as well as a cheaper OTO

Also does the cheaper price convert better then a more expensive offer? I have heard different opinions that offering a $37 product vs a $7 product. Some people feel the $37 product speaks of more value and people are willing to buy it. Others think a $7 product is better for a quick impulse buy.

Thanks

What does OTO mean? I've seen it on a few of these threads but there is nothing to say what it stands for?
    Thanks Jalexp

While your on the right track, every man and his dog does that and as such isn't as effective as it was a few years back.

I like your out of the box thinking to push them through an affiliate link after the opt in But try to be equally as creative on the front end to help differentiate yourself from all the other people following the popular plan

I would drive some traffic and test it both ways. See which one gives you the most sales and stick with it...

Different niches are going to respondly differently. The only way you will really know what's best for you is to test it out. Either way be sure to get the traffic on your email listm

I would send people to your THANK YOU page so that you should people that you are a real person and you build some rapport with them. Show them your picture. Thank them for the opt in. Tell them what you are going to send them in future emails.

Try that out too if you really feel that this is the best way to go. There is a very good chance that many people will buy what ever you are offering right after they opt in. You can send them directly to the affiliate page. It works too.

Just like people will buy a $37 product, this means that they will even spend up to $200-$300+ if they feel this will give them great value. You can find products that will allow you to earn more money from upsells.

Definitely an OTO. THEN, an affiliate link/banner in the thank you page (both don't hurt to have ). A good OTO optimized for your customers will convert really well. Basically it should be an irresistible offer (with tons of value) for a really low price. Usually I price mine around $5 - $12 and get great conversions. If you redirect them to an affiliate offer right away conversions will be super low because it's not directly optimized for them. The key thing here is to optimize your offers to your customers and prospects. This way you can easily sell your stuff. It's like the difference between untargeted and targeted traffic (in this case, a targeted vs and untargeted offer).

One of the most important things is how well things flow and how well related your paid offer is to your free offer

You're best to have a low priced product as your oto, i have had good results with products between $5 - $11

By all means test a more expensive product as a oto but i would be using a $37 as an upsell not the oto

Also, try to create your own product as soon as you can because selling affiliate products is ok but you can't build your own buyers list and segment then
