Another Twitter Competitor?

I was browsing around on Twitter today and decided to follow "onepoke."
For those who don't know it is a social network but you are able to manage all of your social networking activity from this one location including Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Youtube and many more! Just thought I'd mention this before they hit the big scene. Certainly one social network for the future with all the potential any site needs Over 1250 members already. :p

Well, It was just a site I glanced over just thought I'd share it with you. What makes it not professional?

The sites design looks as if it was created a decade ago and the colour isn't all that nice for one.

They have also decided to ignore title and meta tags, that won't help them with search engines. Sure, it may of gotten some signups fast - but it needs to go a long way to reach Twitter. It is only in beta though, so I suppose we can expect more from it!

Yes...there are a number of these, including friendfeed, indenti.ca, jaiku, plurk, kwippy, koornk, youare, uterli, seesmic.

The interesting thing is, with a little creativity, you could leverage some or all of these with the same amount of work it takes to leverage one. I've been playing around with tarpipe and ping.fm, and with regular feeding of micro content, you can build quite a following.

There are also more social-sharing sites, and a number of popular blogging platforms that you can update/post content to using those tools as well.

I've been aware of Ping for a while, just have not had the time to set it up.

Desperately need to route all of these together soon.

Ok, here's the question - which one of these is the highest recommended at this time?

Need something that will cover the most - and currently looks like Ping is on top.

Twitter is so simple it wouldn't be hard to imitate. The thing is Twitter is big enough now that if the idea really sticks then it will be the only one. There is really not much room for competitors in the micro-blog niche.

I completely agree with you primeelite but still many sites are introducing social networking and so at least one of them will get as big as twitter.?

Very true but all I am saying is that the social network has potential, like all of them do.

I remember when Twitter started how ugly (I thought) it was. I also thought it was a silly waste of time to post on it. Boy was I wrong! I wish I had jumped on the bandwagon when it first started instead of brushing it aside as irrelevant!

We cannot simply say give away just because the site is ugly. We must look at the potentiality of it for our marketing efforts. I hope every little helps. Who knows it can become power of social networking in the future. I would prefer to sign up rather than just leaving it.

Any site will always focus on functionality first before they fine tune their layout, and that from what I know about the site, it will far exceed the capabilities of any other site on the market that might try to do the same thing.

The key thing that that site does is allow you to create your message in one place. There is nothing more annoying than having to maintain the same message on 3+ social networking sites so cudos to them for achieving it - that said, I wont be using it.
