Do You Give Review Copies To Potential Affiliates?

Hey Warriors, I recently received an email from someone wanting to see a review copy of my ebook. They said they might like to promote it.

What do you do in situations like this?

I know some people are not legit, and just want free copies or they want it to maybe even create a product to compete.

Thoughts?

Mine are here (albeit mostly expressed from the affiliate perspective): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post3641838

I think the point's the same, though: the vendor has to make a subjective evaluation of whether or not to take the affiliate seriously?

Ask them how they are going to promote it. Try to understand if they are serious promoter or fake

I work as a developer with few top CB sellers in the category and most of the time they have dedicated login/useraccount for affiliate to access whole Members area to access all downloads before promoting.

But access to that is given only to serious affiliates, who have name in that market. You may ask some questions about those affiliates, and by looking at their sites and list archive you will be able to figure out if they are serious affiliates...

Agree with the posters above. I don't just hand out free copies of my products but am willing to work with those who can show me some serious plans to promote my products.

I will often tell a potential affiliate to use their own link to purchase a copy and I will refund the additional cost upon their first sale. In the end it may not matter if you are using Clickbank, they can download a copy and cancel in a heartbeat.

I personally would not send then a free copy. Most of the time, these people just want to get a free copy and have no intentions to promote it.

There are times where an affiliate, who knows how to promote online, will buy a product that they think of possibly promoting it. They want to see if it is any good or not.

So NO, don't send a free copy.

Yes - but I make the choice depending on the potential I see in that affiliate. Sometimes you can tell just from their site, list, years in the marketplace, etc...while other times you see less evidence so you ask them some serious questions about how they will promote, their audience, etc...
