    The short answer is time!

The slightly longer answer really depends on your skill set and or availability of funds.

One of the major parts to building a six figure business is niche selection, in some niches you will just not find the traffic to support a business like that.

But saying that it may be possible to build a high 4 or 5 figure business, just sell that site then you have more funds available to take another niche to a higher level.

If you have good word press skills it is fairly easy to build a site in most niches that will look good, fill it with some great content (daily) and drive traffic to it (free or paid depending on your circumstances).

Providing you have a good grounding in social media, SEO and numerous other marketing skills you won't have a problem generating that kind of income within a short space of time (time has different relevance to different people).

If you have the funds available you can shorten that period.

The question is too open ended to give a really in-depth answer.

What I have found to help me most using this forum over the last 10 years is the quality of the question asked!

    Hope that helps

    John

Well the thing is there is a million different way to produce a 6 figure income online. Do you want to be a ebay power seller, do you want to own a portfolio of websites, do you have the skills to provide a service ... get my drift? We can't help you scale up your business if you haven't yet begun or even found an area that you want to work in

This is something that really can't be answered without you asking like this "What does it take to create a corporate logo website and make 6 figures with it. This is an example.

You have people who have owned a website for 15 years busting their ass and they don't make 6 figures, and you have others who start a new trend online with their website and they're millionaires within a few months.

If you are going to build a 6 figure website is will take time and persistence to make it work.

It will take massive advertising too so you need to master that too.

Plus, you need to work with programs that pay you monthly residual income.

I've done it more than once. The first one was not my own. I didn't make that mistake again. There is some luck involved, and you have to expect some things won't work but with enough irons in the fire the odds start to go in your favor. Trying to do it all yourself is the biggest mistake I believe most people make. You've got to make friends and get people on board with what you are doing.

You are trying to find something that will people will like or benefit from in some way, so you need to develop a relationship with people in the niche like potential customers. Then you need to find skilled designers and programmers but really get involved with them and develop them. Marketing is something you need to learn yourself, and that takes a lot of time too.

I've been posting on forums like this for years, so it is guaranteed I will get traffic from signatures somewhere like this throughout the day. 10 years of posting can go a long way. Of course, this is not the central part of my marketing effort and I have something like 13 million links pointing to one site, and another forum has a million posts (but is started with ONE post). So I agree dedication over a period of time is central to success.

Well, the first thing in my opinion is to make a small tweak to your mindset:

from "what does is it takes to build a site that generate 6 figures?"

      This. Exactly.

I'm not convinced there is such a thing as a "6-figure website" at all. There are certainly 6-figure sales processes/marketing businesses with the orders taken on a website, but that's a hugely and significantly different matter.

Every website out there that is selling something is potentially a six figure earner, why so many dont achieve that kind of result is lack of total focus one the one thing that builds the website to a 6 figure earner, MARKETING, i recently coached a group of people who had no real plan, strategy, or schedule for their marketing, thats the 1st thing to get right 2nd, If you are selling a product that make you 20-30-40 0r $50 a sale then you need to make a lot of traffic, to make massive sales, however if you are selling something that make you $1000 a sale, then it becomes far simpler. High ticket offers is where you need to be

Most of these answers hold parts of the whole answer - and Jasonl70 has defined the mindset that must change. What BUSINESS will you take to 6 six figures, how much focus and dedication to marketing can you provide and how flexible are you willing to be when something you fell in love with isn't working out . . .

Most people hate product creation and stop there, but money isn't made with product creation - it is made in the marketing. Learn the marketing and outsource the product creation if it is your hangup.

And the last piece of advise I give the people I work with - TAKE ACTION! You can get really bogged down in the learning, the checking and the asking. Start 'the doing'!

There is no magic formula. If there was a magic formula everyone would be making 6 figures.

    My tips:

    - Work hard
    - Invest
    - Brainstorm
    - If failed, try again.

I understand the terminology. As I made more money on my "websites" I more often came to refer to them as "businesses" in conversation. For example, I grew to have employees, had to do taxes, etc. I think the transition of your mindset is pretty natural as you grow. It's not some make or break attitude that you must change now or else you are destined for defeat. I still tell people to visit my "website" not my "business", because it is more logical since the latter would not be possible as my customers are all over the world.

You first need to devide your goal value with your profit for each product.

    100.000 / $ 25 = 4000 products

Then you need to know your convertion rate. Find out how many visitors you will need.

    4000 products / 0,02 (2%) = 200.000 visitors

You then have to figure out how to drive those 200.000 visitors to your side.

If you devide by 365 days, you will need:

    200.000 / 365 = 550 daily visitors.

If you have 100 pages on your website you will need 5-6 visitors to each page each day.

In the real world (not the Internet world 8) ) income is based on return on investment (ROI). If you invest $1,000,000 and have a 10% ROI, then you can expect to make $100,000 annually.

Can you leverage your investment, like sweat equity? Definitely. But sweat equity assumes you have business knowledge, product knowledge and technical skills as your "sweat."

Often people have neither capital (money) or skills, so they they do what I call "reverse leverage." They try to spend small amounts of money hiring cheap offshore workers, and thus their profit (if any) comes off the backs of others. Trying to make money that way can really screw with your karma.
